Want a salad too hot for soup.

In this heat I really would like to eat a salad. I know I can't now but hopefully in the near future. When did you guys start eating salads? I'm at 5 weeks still a long way or not ?

I started salads about week 5 or 6. They were allowed as tolerated and I never had any problems. Thank goodness since they are a staple in my diet! ☺️

Surgeons & NUT's vary widely, however so definitely check with YOUR doctor and follow his/her protocol.

I was allowed salads at day 10. My surgeon's plan puts everyone on solid foods between day 10 and day 14 depending on how you tolerate them.

I could eat a lot of foods early. But not salads. They didn't work for me until about three months post-op. Your stomach will know.

6 months out and still can't eat salads. You get 0 bang for your space. I eat a couple fork fully of crab lettuce and it fills it up, but not in a good way. I save the salad and it becomes sad REAL quick. I stick to wraps.

Learn to love kale. Lettuce does nothing for you, but kale is a "superfood". It's tough, chewy, and has a distinctive flavor. If you make a salad with it, you should make a dressing for it as well and let it sit in that for a while before eating. It will soften it up and make it bearable.

After acclimating to kale, try a bit of lettuce salad again. Iceberg will taste watered down and not very satisfying. Spinach salads also are ok.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
