TXTinana 269 Posted August 24, 2015 I started on yogurt today. Kroger has a brand called Carbmaster which is pretty decent tasting. Out of about a 6 oz cup I've only been able to down about 2 oz. Still, feels good to be able to add a little of variety to my diet. So far it has sat pretty well in my sleeve. I also get to add creamy Soups and have nice broccoli cheddar Soup waiting at home I can try tonight. I had to take the stairs a few times at work today and that also has not been too bad. So far a decent day.
Margie122 845 Posted August 24, 2015 Guys, I don't know how you went back to work today. I'm still so wiped. You must be made out of VERY STRONG STUFF! I am struggling to get in all the Water, it's a real chore. The other struggle is the vitamins....vitamin with Iron at Breakfast, wait 2 hours Calcium, wait two hours another Vitamin with iron, wait two hours another calcium, and finally after another 2 hours another calcium. This is in addition to getting in enough Protein. It's exhausting - mentally and physically. GOOD NEWS (and maybe TMI) but I now can say I am no longer constipated! WOO HOO. What a relief. I did two days of Miralax. It wasn't painful, thank goodness. I'm just wondering if I should keep the Miralax up or wait? I'm not on any heavy pain meds. I might just see what happens. I did some walking today. I also got a ride up to a place called "Nashua Nutrition" in Nashua, NH that just sells bariatric shakes, bars, Vitamins, etc. I bought some cream of "broccoli" Soup, and two boxes of hot chocolate. One is regular hot chocolate, and the other is "assorted flavors" like mint, etc. I thought it might be nice to have a hot drink in the morning. I'm getting a little tired of drinking/eating sweet things. At least I will be able to add more savory stuff in 10 days when I meet with the NUT. Hope everyone is doing well. thinkingthin15 12 Posted August 24, 2015 @@Margie122 getting in all my liquids and Proteins is a big chore for me as well. I don't want to end up dehydrated or losing my hair because of lack of Protein and Water. The pain I get in my chest makes it much harder to continue sipping. I'm glad to hear everybody had a good first day back at work. I'm out until 9/22. The stress level at my job would hinder my healing process. Question: Should I wait 30 mins after sipping my Tomato Soup to sip my water or protein? I know I'm supposed to wait 30 mins after meals to drink anything but I figure it's all liquid. Plus I don't know when I'm full? I only have about 2-3oz of Tomato Soup.< /p>
Mini_me007 121 Posted August 24, 2015 @@thinkingthin15 That whole fullness thing had me stymied as well! I haven't felt a sensation of fullness since surgery. I did a search of these boards this afternoon (I'd about convinced myself my surgeon didn't really take out part of my stomach! Lol!) and it turns out that a lot of people don't have a sensation of fullness for a while because the nerves in the stomach have yet to heal. The general consensus is just to measure your food carefully to make sure you don't eat too much. You should be fine.
TXTinana 269 Posted August 25, 2015 Last night I had about 2oz of broccoli cheddar Soup and I was definitely feeling it!
Margie122 845 Posted August 25, 2015 Hi guys. I just had a weird thing happen. I hope this is not a start of what happened to me before. I just drank some Water (maybe too fast?) and realized I needed to take my Vitamin. I took it..it's very sweet chewable...and immediately felt like I was going to vomit and I did. I don't feel nauseous now thank goodness. Maybe it was just too soon. I'm going to lay low for the rest of the day and try to get some more water in later and some broth.< /p> I'm off until mid Sept. I didn't think I would need all that time but now I'm glad it's an option considering I've been having a bit of a hard time. Hope you all are doing well. kozyjozie 108 Posted August 25, 2015 Hi Margie. I was told to have my breakfast with Multivitamin B12 and Biotin. Then lunch with Calcium and lastly dinner with calcium. I have no problems with nausea when done that way
kozyjozie 108 Posted August 25, 2015 I am glad your better now. I take the Biotin for my choice. I don't want a problem in the future with Hair loss. But I told the dr today and he said it's fine to take
TXTinana 269 Posted August 25, 2015 Sorry to hear that @@Margie122 Hope you are feeling better. Today has been day 2 back to work and today is the first day where other than having to sip, I actually forget about the surgery for a little while. No real pain or constant reminder today. Things seem to be moving along pretty well. As of this morning, down 30 lbs from the time of my pre-op diet to this point. 14 lbs down since surgery 8 days ago! Margie122 845 Posted August 26, 2015 I am consciously NOT weighing myself until my first post-op visit on 9/3. I don't want to be lured by the scale either way. It's hard but I'm sticking to my guns. I don't know if after that I will weigh weekly ... Maybe. I definitely think the reason I threw up was because I didn't have the Vitamin with a meal. Lesson learned! I won't make that mistake again. Still having a hard time getting a handle on the small meals, Vitamins, and sip sip sipping. I do not want to get dehydrated. Just need to be ,more conscious of what I'm doing.
