You just had major surgery. It takes time to recuperate. Sometimes months.

Are you getting enough Protein? Water? How is your calorie intake? You should be getting at least 600-700 by now.

I just started week 8 and I'm right there with you. I honestly think just eating mostly Protein is doing it. Not getting enough vegetables and no fruit. I'm not convinced that living on Protein and Water is a good thing for your body for this many weeks. I think I need more veggies.

The first 4 weeks were terrible for being exhausted and I'm still tired all the time. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks to get bloodwork checked.

I take my Vitamins every day too. Not helping with the tiredness.

I think the point that is so often missed is what a MAJOR surgery this is and how your body needs time to heal. Healing takes longer for some than others. I agree Water is of the utmost importance as if you get slightly dehydrated it will make you feel tired and get headaches among other things. If you take your Vitamins and drink at least 60gms of Protein via shakes you should be able to get your 90-120gms in by supplementing with your food. Don't feel discouraged, this too shall pass :)

I'm starting my 7th week. I too get very weak but usually it's due to low calorie/ Protein intake. If I eat something I usually feel better. But it was major surgery and our bodies and minds are still adjusting to ALL the changes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
