Im on my 15th day post op, down 28 pounds, but this whole process has been really overwhelming, my preop diet stage also was done at the same time as me getting off two of my medications which im happy to be done with, but Ive been feeling like when I try to eat the recommended foods such as oatmeal and scrambled eggs, Protein Shakes, etc. I tried the eggs today and they felt soooo uncomfortable and ten minutes of discomfort later they came right back up, I feel like when i eat anything aside from no sugar added applesauce or yogurt i can feel a heavy sitting feeling inside of me. I just want to know if this is nervous, ive been pretty scared to eat and barely eating anything. Im just nervous, also when I feel that heavy feeling I get the urge to want to throw the food up rather than sit there uncomfortable. Is this just me or does everyone experience this?!?!

I'm not gonna lie. The first month after surgery pretty much sucks.

Not only are you dealing with the aspect of just having major surgery, but you're also dealing with not being able to eat what you want, when you want. And when you do, it can be so uncomfortable and downright hurt!

It's a process. Make sure you're chewing really, really well. And yes, you may just have to wait for some foods a little longer. If it makes you feel any better, quite a few people have a problem with eggs. I didn't, but know a lot who did. It's all trial and error at this point. Try different foods on your plan, and see what works and what doesn't for now.

Hang in there. It's not always going to be this way. This phase is temporary, and months down the road you will have forgotten all about how overwhelming it all was :)

@@Babbs is correct! This first few weeks is the worst with the trial and error of finding things you can tolerate. I did thin instant mashed potatoes and they stayed with me but I could only eat about 1.5 ounces at a time. The egg worked at 2 weeks out for me but I couldn't eat a whole egg. Chewing is key and small bites. Go slow so you see if a bite is going to be okay before taking another one.

Every day it gets better, I promise. Hang in there and as @@Babbs said try different things from your list if eggs won't work

Good luck!.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
