Hey Sweety, that is kind of discouraging to hear. I have to lose this weight I spent 15,000 of my savings for this. I have not had a fill and I am no different than I was before I was banded. Congrats on the 20 lbs. Dr. Wright was my doctor as well. I hope I can do better when I get the fills. Who determines the fill amount? E-mail me sometime, I need support!!! jkjcampbell@yahoo.com 262-3954

Hello Sweety!

I was banded 8-1-07 by Dr. Wright, here in San Antonio. I am a lifelong resident. Retired, widow, 63 years old, longtime diabetic and a bk amputee x 2 years. I interviewed last year with another surgeon who would not entertain giving a band and more or less told me it was "too risky" (his M.O, I find). I began his screening process and my last clearance was with my cardio doc. I wound up having surgery for triple cardiac bypass--not gastric!! Cardiac Surgeon and cardio doc both assured me I should seek wt loss surgery in about a year. In that year I decided I did not want my "gut cut" and began looking into lapband. Upon several recommendations, I decided on Dr. Wright and so far have been extremely happy with my decision. I will see him on Monday 8-13 for my first follow-up. So glad to find other S.A. banders. I love all ethnic cuisines and hope I can still partake of some of these further down the road! cindy girl

Hello! My name is April, and I live in Olmos Park. I have not been banded yet. I'm starting the process of research. I've been thinking about LBS for a couple of years, but never took the time to research it until now. I am scheduled for a seminar in early October. Do the banders in San Antonio from this board ever have get togethers?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
