Hope you are doing well. I was sleeved the 27th also in New Jersey. I had a bit of a rough time because I also had a hiatal hernia repair but as I start a new week things are getting easier. Take time to rest, sip, walk and think about your outcome to be! Welcome to the losers bench!!!

I had a hiatal hernia repair too. I do feel better every day it seems. I walked a lot today. Thanks for all the advice. How are you feeling?

I have a dull pain everyday in my upper stomach where the hernia was. I feel like nothing helps it. I see my dr tomorrow. Ty for asking! Do you have the same dull pain? I'm on omeprezole but I'm not sure it's helping.

Hi everyone!

My surgery is at 10:15 AM in New Jersey tomorrow morning. I am beyond excited but I'm also pretty nervous and scared. Are there any words of confidence that you all want to share? It would be very greatly appreciated. ☺️

Be patient with your healing. You WILL feel better and the weight WILL come off- maybe not as fast as you like, but it will come off. Get enough rest but walk walk walk... It helped me more than anything else- even meds.

Best wishes to you!!!

I was so nervous, yet excited. I had a hard time the first day, and you think you are never going to feel like yourself again. It was more nausea for me then pain, and I had a hernia repair also. The next day was so different, up walking and drinking. No narcotics after 2nd day, and sipping all what I am supposed to, post op day 4. Was in hospital 2 nights. Good luck, everyone is different, but you will do fine, it does get better after that anesthesia is out of your system. Another woman 2 years older then me, I am 57, had no problems at all, no pain, no nausea, and we had it done the same day.

No I have no pain related to that. What did your doctor say? Hope you are feeling better!!!!

I had it last Wednesday and the surgery itself - well, they totally put me out so I only remember being rolled in then waking up post-op. You'll be a little disoriented so if you have someone familiar with you there that's good to have (I didn't). After that the recovery is not bad. Some moderate soreness going away day by day. Just plan on resting for about 24 hours at least. Good luck!

Walk. Walk and walk more. I had my surgery on 7.6.15 and the walking the halls was the best thing you can do post surgery. I was thankful for my yoga training before hand. In yoga they teach about pushing yourself to that edge, not where you feel pain but where you can really feel what you are doing. That helped me to push myself to do just one more lap each time, and increase the laps each and every time I got up to walk. I won't lie to you, the first few times will be hell. I was so thankful for my pain meds that helped me (and kept warning my caregivers that I am going to curse like a sailor when I get in and out of bed).

Do not allow the pain to keep you in bed. That is the worst thing you can do. Even when you get home, walk. With the heat and humidity here in the Midwest, going outside I was scared of getting dehydrated. To combat that I would pick different big box stores and walk them. Pick places you might never go, as to make the experience new to you, but keep walking.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
