I have a visceral negative reaction to cottage cheese because of the tanginess. Does anyone know of a specific type that is not so tangy? Have tried Breakstones even with the fruit and I can't get it down.

First - love your avatar!

I haven't really detected tanginess.

Have you tried it with spices or perhaps blended up with something else? When I was on purée I blended it with some chicken. It wasn't spectacular, but it was edible. :-)

I also blended it with refried Beans and salsa (it was ok).

I prefer Penn Maid. However it may be a local brand as I am in Pennsylvania. It is the only brand that I like the low fat. (I don't do no fat)

Then why eat it? Find something you like instead.

I would find something else to eat. Cottage cheese is spoiled milk in my book and I can't stand it. I don't eat that or tuna which is cat food.

Can you eat Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt instead? I really like the cherry flavored one.

I am not a cottage cheese fan either.

There's plenty of other protein-rich fish in the sea.

Metaphorically speaking. ;)

Cottage cheese has excellent Protein and I eat it every day. My favorite brand is Kemps. I am not sure if that is local but I don't detect any tanginess.

I agree. Either you like it or you don't. If you don't, no one is requiring you to eat it. That said, the higher fat version does taste a bit different than the lower fat version.

I have negative emotional attachments to cottage cheese from an abusive mother putting me on extreme diets at 4yrs old. I've tried to break that, but just not successful. You don't have to have cottage cheese to be successful at any stage in the process of WLS so if the taste is that bad for you, just eat something else. I hear sometimes taste buds change post surgery and things that bothered us before, we actually might like post surgery, so I think I'd just table it altogether til after surgery if I were you. Well, I'm not you, but that's what I've decided on.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
