I'm due to have my surgery in August 5th 2015. And oddly enough I am worried about having port issues. I have heard stories about people port sticking out, or it being painful when touched. Has anyone experienced any of issues. I'm getting my surgery through True Results with Dr Marsden. I've heard he's really great. If there's any of his patients or patients ot True Results that can give me their experiences I would love to hear from you.

I'm not his patient nor any longer have the band but yes.... it was definitely visible and it especially hurt when rubbing against my waistband or belt.

One of the main reasons I finally decided to have my band revised to gastric bypass was the port. I never lost enough which for it to show but I could always feel it. Sometimes it seemed worse than others but just it being there began to drive me nuts!

Now 3 months after getting it taken out it is still a lingering problem! I ended up with a seroma (pocket of fluid) where the port was removed from. It was the most painful thing I've ever experienced. At this point the pain is gone but I still have a very slow leak of drainage as the seroma slowly heals.

The port hurts for a while after surgery. You have to be careful. After a few months you won't notice it as much. It won't hurt to touch it. The more weight you lose, the more it'll stick out, and it depends on where your surgeon places it. I'm going to be a band to bypass revision in a few months due to band slippage and multiple complications.

I had two bands. The first caused a hernia and the port hurt a lot. I just had my second one removed and converted to a bypass. I had another hernia horrible GERD lots of port pain. My doc said he has beef removing a lot of bands for the same reason.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
