My name is Pam. I live in Mesquite Texas(suburb of Dallas). I was banded Oct.4. My doctor is Dr. Powell. Everything went well for me. I was one of the lucky ones. Now that the swelling has gone done, I am hungry! I get my first fill next Monday. I'm looking forward to it but I'm a little nervous about it also. I lost 18lbs on the pre-op diet and while I was on the post op liquid diet. I'm afraid to see how much I have gained back this past week.

Pam, congratulations on getting your band and a great weight loss! So glad to hear of no complications! Are you eating solid foods yet? It's important to be doing that and knowing how your tummy is handling them before you get a fill. Being hungry is a good sign that everything is healing well, the swelling has gone down, and you're "wide open" until a fill (sometimes 2). Everyone is different as to when they need a fill. I waited 2 months, which is probably longer than average. But Teresa (another bandster) has been banded 7 months, had no fills, and lost 70 pounds! Best of luck to you!

HI Pam,

Congrats on your loss thus far! Glad to hear it went well too!

How long was your recovery after the surgery?

You lost a lot in your pre-op diet... what did it consist of and how long were you on it?

Wish you continues success!!

Hey Pam congrats on the weightloss so far. I am also in Mesquite and also just had my lap band done from Dr.Powell in Richardson on November 1st. So far can't get much down without feeling so full and needing to constantly hiccup or burp. I did get out and walk the dog today so that felt good with our nice weather. I didn't do so well on the pre-op but still lost some none the less. The Myocel they gave us was horrible until I found some sugar free choco Syrup to go into my smoothie machine with it. Let me know how you progress, I am beginning to think I will never be able to eat a real food at this point...

My pre-op diet consisted of liquid Protein diet drinks twice a day and low carb, low fat small meals twice a day. Post op diet was full liquid meals for two weeks.

Bigun, when you go to see Dr. Powell for your two weeks check up, if everything is okay he will let you eat soft real food. You'll be surprised how little it will take to fill you up! I cannot stand to drink Myocel anymore. I mixed instant coffee and artificial sweetner with it. I wish I had bought vanilla instead. When I was on the post op liquid diet I went to Jason's Deli and bought a quart of onion Soup. A quart lasted four or five days and it was good to eat something that wasn't chocolate or vanilla.

I'm glad to know there is someone in Mesquite who is with me.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
