Patk 18 Posted July 27, 2015 Has anyone had revision surgery? What was your first and subsequent surgery? How did it go the second time around?
James Marusek 5,244 Posted July 27, 2015 There were a few people who had revision surgery in our bariatric support group meeting. One man had a lap band. His band started eroding into his stomach so he had to have it removed. He had a RNY which he was happy with. Because of the erosion, his RNY had to be a smaller pouch which limited his food intake more so than a normal RNY patient.
crusso 21 Posted July 31, 2015 I'm looking to revision from band to sleeve. I was banded in 2011 and never had much in terms of weight loss results. I'm hoping the sleeve will be a better solution for me. I'm self-pay so I've been researching Mexico surgeons.
betrthnever 107 Posted August 3, 2015 Has anyone had revision surgery? What was your first and subsequent surgery? How did it go the second time around? I tried for a revision late last year and was denied by my insurance company. Lap band in 2008, 80 pounds lost in 2 years, 60 pounds regained in 1 year. I was devastated for years and decided to try to do something about it again and was denied. At that point I decided to just love myself for who I am and I met a man soon after who loved me as I am but also supports my weight loss. I've decided to go in again and try again. I'll keep you posted!
Bndtoslv 292 Posted August 3, 2015 I did! 2 parts. I had lap band in 2007. Removed this past April. Sleeve in June. So far the sleeve feels much better.
