I am curious has anyone noticed slow weight loss and antidepressants? I go to my Doctor tomorrow I am not doing anything crazy. I just have notice my weight loss is very slow. I had surgery June 1st 2015. I lost 16 pounds the first weeks and only 13 pounds since. I excersise everyday. I have not cheated even a little bit. I started taking Estroven. I am going to talk to my doctor about weening off Effexor since surgery I notice more symptoms with the drug.

I was sleeved on the same day and I take Celexa. I've also had a slow weight loss. I don't know if it's related or not. But the alternative is not pretty. Without the Celexa I want to go out and stomp on baby squirrel heads and do nothing but cry.

I take three anti depressants including Effexor and I reached goal at 9 months and I'm 8 pounds under at 13 months.

You have already lost 29 pounds I less than 2 months and you are saying that's slow. I think that's great.

I say be careful on getting off of them unless you truly don't need them and that's a decision you and your doctor have reached together.

Good luck to you. It sounds like your doing great.

I lost 10 pounds the first month and 11 pounds the second month.

And I'm not on any antidepressants.

I dunno how big you were when you started, but if you were anything like me (I was 216 day of surgery -- having already lost 20 pounds pre-op), you're losing at a pretty fast clip already.

I'm on the same med and I've lost 30 lbs since the start of July... Surgery July 6th. I haven't noticed that it's causing any issues but I've also been considering switching to something else.

I was on Effexor and had taken myself off, figured I would lose more not being on it. But I'm down 22 lb. in 24 days.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
