So I came across the National Institute of Health calorie counter. My results were: in order to lose 17 pounds in 2 months, I need to eat roughly 1,200 calories a day. Ummmm, I've averaged 1,000 or less a day for two months and have only lost 10 pounds in 2 months!post-149873-143792883746_thumb.jpg

First, from everything I have learned, trackers and things targeted at the general population are based on averages. Individual metabolism and experience are not average, especially for those of us who suffer from the disease of obesity.

Second, based on what I have learned, calories alone are not enough to give you an accurate gauge to forecast your results. I have to look at the quality of the calories, not just the raw numbers. If I ate 1000 calories of bread, I would have different results than if I ate 1000 calories of turkey.

Our bodies are complex systems and not simple machines.
