Banded March 12

2 fills at 1.5cc

4cc band

Lots of restriction

Question, I am losing me hair, any suggestions?

Are you havaing enough Protein and Vitamins?

Make sure that you are not missing out on importnat nutrients while eating less.

If you can, make an appointment with a nutritionist or stopin at your local health food store. The mom and pop stores that is, they are more likely to know what they are talking about than a chain store with employees.

Good luck.

WOW I NEED HELP> I have only lost 30lbs since 3/30. I know I have to eat better and I am trying. I have cut so much out of my diet BUT I can be doing better. I am strarting to feel better and look better in clothes, which doesnt help me much. I am losing about 1.5lbs a week. I did have a hard time at first with the band not being tight but it has been working well for the last 2 weeks.

Hello:)

Sorry for the multiple posts at once. It's the only way that I can respond, otherwise by the time I get ready to respond my head is so full I can't remember who I wanted to say what to.:car:

Anyway, I just realized that it's been more than 10 days since I checked in. WOW:embarassed: I've been very busy dealing with life. I've been good and I thank God that I made the decision to get banded when I did. If not for the band I would be 30 lbs heavier than I was in March instaed of 30 lbs less. I am definetely an emotional eater.

So here's and update . . .

My daughter has moved back home, she moved out when she was 18 two years ago (2 hours from home!!) I hated it and missed her so much. I'm so glad that she is home, she came home because she and her bf have decided to start a family and she didn't want to be so far away from the family to do this. I told them that I wanted them to stay with me (time frame for about a year) to save up enough money to buy a home in our area.

He found a new job right away, he is in the construction business, and is making great pay. They are remodeling my basement (which is only partially finished right now) into a litlle apartment for themselves.

I love having my daughter near, especially now that she is so sick.

The new baby is due to arrive on Jan 24th, 3 days before my own b-day!

There are so many other things going on but this by far is the most life changing and "news-worthy"!

In the meantime, I have not gained a lb. :whoo:(nor have I lost one either) :). I really don't understand why I am not loosing more? I am excersing, I am being soooooo good with my food intake. I have only had one fill of 1.5 in my 4 band but I defeinetely feel the restriction. It taked me 45 minutes to at the small portion that I do eat. Could the stress just be causeing me to retain the weight for defense purposes? Any ideas on what I can do to jumpstart my metabolism again?

By the way, I printed my 10 rules. THANKS!!!

It's been awhile since I've logged in myself. I'm in the process of moving so I have been sooo tied up, but I think about you guys all the time! ROCK ON MARCHIES!!!

Nikki, I can tell you're tickled pink that your daughter is moving back home. I moved an hour away from my mom about 5 years ago, but come next week I will be moving much closer to her and I am so excited. I am looking forward to spending more time with her, shopping, walking (she walks 5 miles a day), playing scrabble, dominoes. My mother and I are best friends and as I get older, I appreciate the times I spend with her even more. Enjoy the time with your daughter!

As far as the weight loss goes, it sounds like you're doing everything right. If you are exercising everyday, make sure you are taking in enough calories otherwise your body will hold on to the weight. You can try to jump start your metabolism by switching up your workouts and making them more intense and longer. Water, Water, Water! If I don't drink my water I don't lose weight whether I'm eating the right foods or not!

Hi Juli, Denise, Sugarbear, Mary, Rosi, Carol, Karen, Purplemonkey, Janine, Sophie, and everybody else! What would I do without this group?!?! You all keep me motivated! Thanks guys!

so you eat your three meals and have Snacks in between?

I wonder if I could get more Protein in that way. The problem that I am having is that I am not hungry so I make myself eat, because I will feel real weak and get the shakes if I don't pay attention and eat my three times a day.

Hey Everyone

So...went to visit the doc yesterday and she wanted to fill me. I've noticed that my calorie consumption had gone up so I started going gym crazy, but she still thought it was too many calories (1500-1700). I'm just afraid of being too tight, because that has happened before. I'll let you guys know what happens...

Hi friends.

Plateauing again. It's frustrating but I'm sure the scale will move. When I think about what to do, I tell myself, just keep keeping on. Not like eating more and exercising less is going to get me results.

Anyway, it's a gray day in Ohio and I'm feeling a little gray myself.:rain:

Hope all are well.

Gray, Gray go away! Come again another day!

Hang in there Juli. You have an incredible attitude, keep pushing on!

I'm trying to emulate your biking committment. I usually have 5:40am-6:20am to exercise. Today I rode around the trail and after I dropped the kids off at daycare I parked the van at home and biked to work. And back home to get my van again on my lunch. Totaled 9.9 miles.

Yippee!

It's sunny & dry here in Northern Michigan. Sure wish it would rain.

Does anyone have any goals that they are thinking about for the month of august?

Khanson, when you eat your meals start with your Protein. Also there are some ready to drink Protein Drinks that are high in Proteins. Like Myoplex, it has 42 grams of protein. You can get it at Target, and maybe Walmart. Look around for the ones that are extremely high in protein. You can sip around on them, one or two a day. Look at a list of high protein foods that you can eat without having to eat big quanties, especially since you are not hungry. Hope this helps.

hello Everyone,

So I have to ask what is everyone doing with their clothes. I have gone from a size 26 to a 18/20 pants and a 3x to a 1x shirt. It just kills me to give this to the Goodwill I have so much money tied up in clothes. I took a ton of dresses to a designer consignment shop. The first 30.00 sold is in store credit. Everything is just sitting there.

I have come to the realization that the average obese women is size 18. When I was a size 26 the racks were full of clothes on clearance, 18, not so much.

Hey guys tonight for the first time ever I treated myself to a pedicure. I was

always way to embarrassed to ever have anyone see anything on me including my toes. I ventured out of my comfort zone, it was marvelous.

Julie and other bikers, are you really able to ride? My calves hurt so much just going down the street. I am so inspired by you all on here.

Janine

I ride my little butt off. I'm on one of those skinny tire bikes too. My shins (sp) used to hurt walking, but I don't have issues on a bike.

Find what works for you....

As for clothing, I did give a bunch to Volunteers of America. I'm using it as a tax write off. The really nice stuff I'm giving to a friend who is tickeled to have it. But that was tricky..."Hey chubby, want my giant clothing?"

Really, I was sensitive about asking her and she was happy to take the donation.

Thanks for the kind words about being inspired. Some days it's hard to feel inspiring.

But...........DENISE..........I finished the bike challenge today. I did 1/10 of the Tour de France. My gray day got better.

Thanks everyone for being there. I appreicate you all more than I can ever say.

Hi everyone! I haven't checked in for awhile--playing Grandma is way too much fun (our reward for surviving our children, right?). I'm in Albuquerque now, having left new baby Tony in CT on Monday, waiting for grandson #5--he's being a bit stubborn and taking his time. He was due on the 17th but she is using a midwife and having a home birth so they won't to anything to speed the little guy along. I really don't like the induction rate these days but I do wish they would at least examine her and see if she is progressing at all. It's a different world these days in babyland.

My eating has been just horrible. Last night at 11:00 I ate 3 pieces of Papa John's pizza--two thick crust. Can anyone say "NO restriction"??? I've had five fills and I swear I don't even have a band. Well, once in awhile I get the left shoulder pain after forgetting to chew well but if I chew and chew, I can eat anything--including 3 big pieces of pizza. I have another fill on Tuesday so maybe that will be THE one.

I am walking a lot though. Walked two hours the other day and usually at least an hour on the other days. This hotel doesn't have exercise equipment so I just walk--20,000 steps on my pedometer in one day was my record.

I have no idea how my weight is. I think I've gained some (pizza will do that for you). It's hard being out of my home routine--protein drink in the a.m., etc. Now it's Denny's for Breakfast and the rest of the day goes downhill from there.

Monday I fly back home whether or not baby comes. We close on the house we are selling on Tuesday and then will be packing the entire 4,000 sq. ft. house in 4 days by ourselves and then will be homeless for 6 weeks. We'll probably stay at my daughter's house for a good part of that time until our new house is done. When will I get my routine back??? Help. I feel so out of control of my life right now, but that is probably just my excuse for making poor food choices.

Well, that's my story right now. I love reading all of your stories and of your ups and downs. You guys are such an inspiration to me and give me great hope that I can succeed.

Oh, as far as August goals...hmmmm, I'd say surviving the month is top on my list. I think August will be the month when I'll lose my Dad (some of you may remember that he was diagnosed with colon cancer the day after I was banded in March). Add to that the homeless factor and being a guest here or there factor and also trying to make good decorating choices for the new house and be ready to move in by the end of September, I think surviving will be my major goal. How about surviving AND losing 5 lbs AND doing some sort of exercise 5 days a week. I think that might be manageable for me. What about the rest of you?

I sound like such a whiner. Guess I'm frustrated sitting here in a hotel waiting for baby to come and feeling overwhelmed by what I have to do next week and during August but not being able to do any of it right now. Whine, whine. Sorry, friends. It's one of those gray days.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. I'm expecting to have a wonderful weekend experiencing the miracle of birth and holding this new little family member. Now, that would be wonderful.

Momlambert Don't feel alone with the band restriction. I have 2.5 cc in my 4 cc band and I still don't have a lot of restriction. I can eat most things. I still can't do bread. I also ate pizza today with my daughter for lunch, but I only eat the topping not the crust, so hope this is a small victory. I love pizza and the thought of giving it forever is very sad, but if I eat the topping I don't feel quite so bad. I was hoping after the fill last week that I would have good restriction as I'm paying for them now and the are quite costly.

Just remember we are not eating as much and we are losing and we are not gaining. I know if I had not had this done when I did that I would be in terrible shape right now. My knees still hurt, but can't imagine what it would have been like if I hadn't lost 30 lbs. I really was hoping it would come off faster, but I suppose slow is good for this old body and maybe I won't have to much loose skin hanging, but my wings are really getting bad. Good luck on the grandson this weekend, hope he gets here before you have to return home.

Thanks so much, Carol. We really do have similar stories--banded about the same time, close to the same age, and about the same weight lost. Unfortunately, I can still eat bread and all of the thick-crust pizza. My knees still hurt as well but I don't think it's quite as bad when I do the stairs. Small victories.

My daughter's midwives approved the "castor oil treatment" so she did that an hour or so ago. We're going swimming now (I'm watching) and then settling in for a quiet movie and a good night's sleep. Hopefully baby will decide it's about time to see this big ol' world.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
