Good morning all, what is everyone up to today? I am doing some cleaning around the house. I went to the resale shop yesterday and bought a robe and some long nightshirts for after surgery. I also bought some crock pot friendly stuff for hubby to make next week. My mom has offered to come over and cook if needed. Well I'm off to Sam's club I need a good roast and some ground beef. ~Mandy

Not much going on here today---cooking. Rick's brother from Denver is here, so we have a family dinner tonight. His kinda sorta niece is going to be there and she and I had words this morning---I cannot stand people who lie to me! So it may not be much fun. His Mom complains about her non stop, until there is an issue with me, and she took her side, telling me how hard she has it....my butt! She makes poor choices and expects all of us to pick up the pieces! Sorry she really has me riled!

Mandy, sounds like you are well prepared for your surgery. I expected to feel totally out of commision for a couple of weeks, but within a few days, I was back to cooking, and getting dressed each day---it didn't sideline me like I expected. Aren't you glad you don't weight what you used to going into it?? I did. Well not my highest, I was in my 230's or 240's when I had mine, enough that I was big!!!

Well I am off to shower---wierd time I know, but if I wait til we get home tonight, it will be late, and I will be going to bed with wet hair. And since my hair has begun growing back, I have this short fuzzy hair all over my head, so I have to work with it---and going to bed with it wet, will NOT help!!!!

Check in with y'all later. We are by the way planning a Fall trip to TX, they tell us our pecan trees are loaded! And we have calves to sell....so will keep you posted, will be between Halloween and Thanksgiving usually for the pecans.

Good morning!

I like this quiet part of the day. DH is teaching summer school, so has already left for school, and DD is still sleeping.< /p>

Later, I'm taking DD to a friend's house to go swimming, then coming back home to spend a few hours typing up rosters and paperwork for the parent org. The fun never stops! LOL!

Mandy, you are getting so close to your surgery! It will be easier due to being smaller, just getting up and down and in and out of bed. I hope you are a quick healer like Kat! I'd prepare for the worst, just to put my mind at ease...and hope for the best! Wish we could be there for you, really. We are always a screen away for a morale booster, though. And our prayers are always with you, too!

Kat, about your sorta niece...it takes a LOT of re-education to re-teach the social brainwashing that has gone on over a long period of time...which is what it sounds like you are doing. When the whining starts about her hard-knock life, just ask (very innocently, of course) WHY they think these things have "happened" to her. Keep asking until they finally realize it is the result of her choices. This takes patience. LOL! But you're up for it. I want to hear more about the Texas trip, of course! Maybe this time we can work something out to meet somewhere, even though this is a BIG state!

Hey gals...what's shakin'? Hope everyong is doing well, staying cool, and happy!

Hugs,

Cindy

Morning girlies!

Cindy I know you are right, about the sorta niece! Truth is she HAS had a difficult life. But now she is an adult (closer to 40 than 30), and the difficulties are self made---and she is still trying to use the excuses...making me crazy. And to make up stories, and not follow through on deals SHE made, make me crazy.

Ricks sister is married to this girls Uncle, her Mom was his sister. She was murdered when the girl (the sorta niece) and her brother were young children. Killed by what police figure was an angry spouse of one of the many men she had been sleeping around with. So the kids were passed around between their Dad and their late Moms families. Being raised part of the time by Ricks sister & BIL, along with their 3 girls. So she has always been treated as a niece. She has bounced from job to job, even did a stint as a stripper....she has a 7 year old daughter now, and stands a chance of leaving her just as her Mom did, if she does not change her ways! That is her personal life, and I don't get too involved in it, without being invited, same as the other nieces & nephews.

BUT she made a deal with me, when she moved in to my DD's mobile home. I did not want her there, I knew better than to mix family and rent! But my MIL was insistant, that she needed a break. Well the rent is behind, a deal she made with me to exchange part of it for nail services, she has "forgot". So since the rental contract is signed between the 2 of us, I am going to be the bad guy....makes me so mad, I knew better, I should have stood my ground with MIL then, but she pouts so bad, I gave in!!!! I can actually almost deal better with her, and her 'poor me' than I can my MIL's about face. Just last week she was very upset with her, because she was having a new bf stay over, and she was doing this and that that MIL disapproved of, but just wait until I said something, now she is all up in the air, that I not cause family problems, and, acts like she never got upset over her actions. THAT irritates me! Oh well, I told her, to figure something out....how to pay, or she can go back to live with her Grandma, I am not pushing her and a child out on the street---she has other options. But Grandma does not allow the boyfriends, at least not since one of them stole Grandma's wedding rings, and her late husbands railroad safety awards and pawned them. Even then the niece acted like she too had been taken in by the boyfriend....never assuming any responsibility. Thank Heavens I do not have children like that, it would break my heart. I mean how is she EVER going to be on her own? Someone is always picking up the pieces for her.

Not much going on here today. We did dinner at my inlaws last night, Rick's brother and his family from Denver are in. I ate way too much---I grazed the table all evening!! I refused to even get on the scale today!

Cindy---I will for sure let you guys know when we head down your way. I can Detour some out of the way as well!

Mandy---I agree with Cindy's suggestions of preparing for the worst, and hoping for the best. It will make life so much easier as you recover to have all of this done already! Did you tell him to remove any excess skin you have in the process? I'm just kidding, but wouldn't it be nice and handy!!!

Well we baked bacon this morning, my granddaughter could eat her weight in bacon, so now I need to go clean up.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Kat, you laugh, but I DID ask. He said no but if I wanted to postpone surgery and consult with a PS he would gladly work with the PS of my choice. I told him the now constant pain would cause me to go mad. So I am going ahead with surgery and then I will consult with PS in a year or so. I really want to be at goal before I remove skin. Wouldn't that have been nice though?

Cindy, girl you are always on the go. I wish I had the energy that you have. Right now I am sooooo tired and I just got out of bed. I think the pain is really starting to take it's toll on me. I will have wi-fi at the hospital so I'm packing my laptop....I will check in as soon as I am able, and will have my mom check in when I am out of surgery.

Abi has her final doctors appointment today for the nasal surgery. She has only had two snoe bleeds since surgery, woohoo sucess. She is itching to get back to school, and has started driving my crazy (she didn't have far to drive) asking each and everyday, "Do I get to ride the bus today????" We have almost a month before we go back. She is bored, and it's starting to show. She will have fun next week while I am recovering, my mom is getting my niece to come and help with her, so she will have someone to play with for a few days. That will be a nice change. I play with her but it's not the same.

I will check back later, have a great day all!! ~Mandy

Happy Thursday,

Well we went to the Ringlings Circus last night, and it was AMAZING

I would say they had lions, tigers and bears but that wouldn't be true, and the kids were just awestruck.... 4 boys and no fighting all night! As we were leaving I bought a DVD and after chores today we will watch it.

In 4 days we will be at my Moms in Santa Barbara and there's lots still to be done, I kinda feel like Mandy with all the preparations we need to tend to.

Ohh, guess what, Lewis just woke up with a raging temperature and I gotta run..... Love ya!

Hi, I'm here!

That's a crazy story about your "niece", Kat. You are not causing the problems in the family, as your MIL suggests...the niece is causing the problems, and you are just calling her on her personal responsibility. It is not blessing her to allow her to continue the chaos in her life, is it? You have the better ideas, I think, and have the little girl's best interest in mind. Stick with it as long as you can. It's so hard, I know!

I'm pooped today, and took about a 2 hour nap, even!

Mandy, I think my DD is about ready for school, too. She's going to camp next Tuesday, so that will definitely help. I do, however, need to pack her stuff for that! LOL!

Tomorrow we are taking my FIL to the local "chinatown" area for lunch and shopping in the grocery stores there, so I can get more big tapiocas for making my own "bubble tea." Have you ever had it? Yummy! My DH is looking for dried squid. EWWWW. He says it is like fish Jerky. EWWWWW.

Am I giving any of you a new idea about retirement???? Hahaha! It's not "your parent's retirement" when you have a 9 year old to keep you busy, that's for sure! I am grateful for it, because it keeps me young, too! (Or, I hope so, anyway....)

Hugs,

Cindy

Bubble Tea? Hmm ok you've got my interest too there Cindy :)

Had my first Reiki Share on Wed at the house in my new rooms downstairs. Had about 12 people all together so that was pretty cool. Everyone had a good time and we're planning on having another one next month. If you don't know what a Reiki share is it's basically everyone working on one person at a time on the table. It's pretty nice and we all get practice.

Oops DH wants me to go with him to get gas for the boat...hopefully I'll get back here  hugs!

I'm waiting on the bubble tea explanation too!!!! Nice to see you guys!!!

Sherry---I kkep forgetting to ask, but how is your son since his wreck? Is he back to driving yet? I think about him often!

Cindy, MIL kinda mellowed some last night, but the "niece" didn't show, she said no she didn't eat red meat (hamburgers don't count I guess...we were having brisket which was sooooooooo good and tender!) I told her there would be other things, she then tells me she didn't think she could stand being around all those people eating red meat! How much ya wanna bet the new guy in her life is not a red meat eater????? Not long ago she was the Great White Hunter, going to buy a cabin with one and hunt with him. I just shook my head, and was glad she didn't show up!!!

Off to finish dinner---so I quit sneaking Kinseys Reeces Pieces she left on my desk!!!

ok so didn't end up going to get the gas because DH realized he lost the plug to the boat. Rut Ro Sinko. Shhh don't tell him I said that lol. So now he can't go fishing early in the a.m. cause he has to go to the store to get a new plug. He's not a happy camper because it's been 6 weeks since he went out on the boat. No telling what happened to the plug.

Hmmm so I have a new job at work now. They've asked me to be the Assistant Operations Manager so I'm back in-house. I'm excited because it's the type of work I love to do rather than just the financial stuff. Problem is right now I'm doing 3 jobs now. Still helping my replacements, now helping train the new Account Manager and then my new job. So far this week, my new job has required alot of personnel issues...yeap HR is part of it. We had a problem with the roofers of the building using some type of solvent and it was making people sick. Many employees went home, one or two called OSHA even though it's not our building. No clue why they did that when the company told themthey could go outside anytime they wanted or go home and use their PTO to pay for it. Anywho....owners spoke with the building owners and contractors and an agreement was made that the roofing would be done after hours regarding the solvents. Today...they were working up there and we had roof leaks all over the place. UNREAL. Then we had one employee blow up on the floor at another one and some very non-businesslike words were said. Had to handle that too...in the meantime I needed to finish my reports and prepare for the month end closing...to boot traffic into work was stalled because some guy was driving and a street grate came up and smashed hiswindshield and hit his head. He was med-flighted to the hospital and I hear he was 30 and now in critical condition. Doesn't look good. Unreal day!

DH is in the middle of the Harry Potter book. I have to start the series all over again. My son and I were readin gthem together but he went ahead of me on the 3rd book. I have to start over and read it all myself then read the rest up. But, I've got so many books I need to read first hahaha

Sounds like things are turning more normal for everyone here. Mandy I do hope your surgery goes well and Kat...don't let you MIL get to ya. You do whats' right for you and your family.

well...need to fold some laundry and check on DH :) Hugs

Sherry, the last Potter book was just ok. I LOVED the series. I am currently burning copies of the audio books. I got them from the library and enjoyed them so much I am going to keep a copy. Jim Dale the guy that does the narration and voices for each character is wonderful. He set a world record for the most amount of voices on a single recording. I got mine from the library, and have listened to them several times. ~Mandy

Morning girls---make that GOOOOOOOOD Morning----do me a favor and check out this ticker under my post!!! I DID IT!!! I know I was shocked when I hopped on the scale this morning! I usually wait 2 days, make sure it is a sure change....but today I took that number and ran with it---straight to my computer!!!! 100 pounds GONE! I swear to you, I never in my wildest dreams thought this would ever be possible! I am not by nature a doom and gloom person, but the weight just seemed to be an obstacle I couldn't see myself overcoming, I mean all the failed diets, the days I woke up with motivation and went to bed full of guilt at failing yet again, to eat right for even one day---I just KNEW I couldn't do it. I love my BAND!!!! Today I am celebrating----I need new boots! I have had my riding boots for 10 + years, and they are now too big, the heel walks up and down on me as I walk. I have dealt with it, but I think I am off to Western Warehouse today and buy me new boots!

Will be back later, I just HAD to share this!!!!!

Yeehaw!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
