Flavored Yogurt During Full Liquids Period

Recommended Posts

I am five days out of surgery and in the full liquids phase of my diet. I'm wondering if anyone has had bad results with any flavored yogurts out there. I'm looking at trying the Yoplait Greek 100 cal yogurt but it has 7 g of sugar per serving. Has anybody else had any experiences with these types of yogurts either positive or negative?

I wish I could eat yogurt, My doc wants me to do Protein shakes, blended/strained Soups or broths - milk consistency or thinner for the first 2 weeks (my surgery was on 7/16) I cant eat yogurt till the pureed stage.

Mine is somewhat like yours except I can have yogurt, oatmeal (very thin), broth and blended/strained Soups. I don't exactly know what they mean when they say blended/strained soups so I haven't had any. Oh yeah I can have low fat small curd cottage cheese.< /p>

But it will be worth it in the long run right? (please please say yes im pre op and on my 2 week liquid only diet and dying for a sandwich I need the motivation)

On my doc's nutrition guide, he wanted all Protein Shakes. But when I had bloating/nausea with them, he said greek yogurt was okay. Generally, carbs should be under a set amount for a day, but realistically, it is okay to have a few if it helps you meet your Protein goals. Eventually, you will have to integrate healthy carbs back into your diet, so I wouldn't get this rabid NO CARBS EVER mantra stuck in your head. I value learning to have a healthy relationship with food over religiously sticking to a diet that might not be working for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
