MaryPh 78 Posted July 28, 2015 Definitely a challenge to get liquids in ... Sleeved on 7-21 and today has been the best with liquids. Puréed yogurt, Sf Popsicles, Water, Tomato Soup, Protein shake... I'm still not sure I got quite enough in. Getting tired of sweet stuff...

fattysosassy 4 Posted July 28, 2015 So I am four days post op and feeling okay all things considered but I can't get my fluids in. Like not even close. The more I drink the more the gas hurts and i walk but it doesn't help much and I am doing really horribly with it. Any suggestions? Three days post op!!! I am getting myself all messed up! I'm 3 days post op... Gas ex strips and 2oz shot glasses are my 2 secret weapons. Really helped me to get get rid of the air and sip slowly. Officially today I had no problems with my liquids. I hated that feeling like a ballon was traveling through my body! Ouch! 1 BypassTheBS reacted to this
MaryPh 78 Posted July 28, 2015 Will ask my dietitian tomorrow...maybe I shouldn't be having it...
MaryPh 78 Posted July 28, 2015 Will ask my dietitian tomorrow...maybe I shouldn't be having it...just confirmed Tomato Soup is ok since it's a cream Soup and I made it with milk. Every program is different, though, so it's best to check with your own dietitian to be sure.
_Kate_ 2,224 Posted July 28, 2015 I am 5 days post op and getting plenty of fluids and Protein down so I feel very lucky. I know it's very difficult for many people. It's hard work though remembering to constantly sip sip sip when you are at home and doing other stuff. Hubby made home made Tomato Soup for me and its delicious and doesn't have any milk in it. I have seen it on many 'allowed' liquid stage food lists. Hes making a batch of chicken Soup tonight. Yum Hope it gets easier for those struggling! tiffanyt 38 Posted July 28, 2015 Post op I took a 2 ounce measuring cup and took a sip. Noting that I was able to sip a half an ounce and that I wanted to drink 4 ounces in an hour, I used a timer on my phone to remind me when to take a sip. This was on day 3 after surgery. It was an easy way to remind me to take that drink. I kept the Water cool in a tervis waterbottle and used one of my kids little cups to sip out of. Slowly I was able to drink more and more even in between the timer.
mmyers1962 48 Posted July 29, 2015 To help with the boredom of Protein Shakes I will blend two together.... chocolate Premier Protein and Lean Body vanilla Ice Cream for instance... Try different combinations.... See what you can come up with.... Of course using the sippy cups to dole out measured amounts!!
