I haven't had surgery yet but I thought it would be a bad idea to ask those who have had surgery about your activity levels after surgery. I signed up for a women's weight training class and Pilates, my surgery is August 4th. I will have about two weeks to recover before going back to work and then a week later I start school and those gym classes. Does anyone know if it would be a good idea to do a weight training class and Pilates? Anyone try these classes before, after their surgery? How was your experience! I would appreciate any responses!

Thanks!

Hey there.. Im pretty athletic and I just back into working out as fast as possible. It took about 2 weeks of down time with light walking. 3rd week I was power walking and about the 4th week I was running. You do have to have your tummy wrapped because you'll still have to deal with the wombs healing and your insides that heal slow.

You will find yourself turning the wrong way or something and it'll feel like your insides where ripped.

Wouldn't recommend weight lifting for at least the 6 to 8 weeks later and your Dr will say the same.

About 6 to 8 weeks I was back don kick boxing but found that I had times when I went hard that I should have maybe been sitting my butt down somewhere.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
