rora 24 Posted July 24, 2015 Is this normal? I'm 5 days post-op and it started last night. When I take a deep breath and fill my lungs there is a sharp pain beneath my right breast. I'm almost sure it's normal just want to check with other people. Is it gas or am I about to die from a pulmonary embolism? Btw ate my first solid food and lost 14 lbs. woot
Qbanma81 29 Posted July 24, 2015 It's normal. With a PE you wouldn't be able to take a deep breath. You'll be very short of breath. I'm going through the same at 3 days post op
Qbanma81 29 Posted July 25, 2015 I've lost 10 yay!! I'm tolerating grits. I couldn't finish my Protein smoothie this morning though. I've cottage cheese a few spoons and that's it. Not reaching fluid goals but am putting effort.
rora 24 Posted July 26, 2015 I had a soft egg that did NOT go down well. Gas, bloating, nausea. Later in the day I had goat cheese and it was well tolerated. Go figure.
seesuzyshrink 52 Posted July 26, 2015 The sharp pain will go away. I had the same thing at just about the same time. Lasted a few days but mine was on the left side. Then just as quickly as it came...it was gone. Who knows what it was? Guess we never will! Good luck with your food!
Mandyctr 75 Posted July 26, 2015 It's gas pain. It will go away, or ask your doc if you can take a gas ex type medication.
Soapandcandlequeen 124 Posted July 26, 2015 I had the exact same thing! It lasted for several weeks. It was just part of the healing process

alexsisv 139 Posted July 29, 2015 You may want to just check with your surgeon. I had a pulmonary ebolism and it felt like a bad case of bronchitis, not necessarily textbook. Not to scare you but better to be safe. I got my PE post appendectomy not post sleeve.
