My story is I was over weight since I was little. I have lost and gained so many times. I finally found out our insurance paid for the surgery. I told my parents I was seeing a nutritionist, as I run a home daycare and my mom is my back up provider. I went to the seminar in January followed all the appts needed by my insurance and had surgery on June 15. I lost about 10 lbs before surgery and since I have lost 34 1/2 lbs. I am excited that I have so much energy. I walk 5-6 days a week about 3-4 miles. I am eating just about anything I want. But I can only eat about 3 ozs at a time. Drinking all the Water I can. I can not stand Protein Shakes and have not drank a single one since surgery. I am only eating Protein and getting just as much as I was before surgery. I didn't eat a lot of meat before surgery, so I think my body is used to it. I went out and bought an up Jawbone which keeps track of your steps, activity levels, and food intake. I bought my husband one too and you can compete for who can take the most steps as he is dieting too. I have gotten sick a few times from eating something that didn't set well with my new tummy. But I have been doing great! I ate lettus and tomatoes on my meat yesterday for the first time and have not had an issue. I love me some tomatoes, so I was excited! Hope everyone else is doing good!

You are doing awesome, that is very encouraging, please make sure you try to get some kind of Protein, especially with your level of activity, right now your ok, but as you continue to lose weight it can begin to literally eat your muscle, and it won't be noticeable until it's too late, I think your diet is a great one, I limit myself to 3-4ozs per meal, but because I workout a lot, I need extra protein to maintain........ There are some great articles online regarding activity and small amounts of protein, keep going your making progress

SO SO proud of you and your husband!!!! It's a huge help when you have a support system & buddy. My husband and I are both having surgery. We see doctor on AUGUST 5th to set up surgery.....

This has went kinda fast for us. First doctor visit was May 20th. And hopefully surgery by September.

Insurance didn't require 6month diet...so that help on timeline

I know y'all are like newlywed again with a new life

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
