How do you break a stall?

Recommended Posts

@@Kathy812 Best wishes and keep us posted! I'm in the same boat (timewise) with @Sonitas. Very frustrating, but trying to stay positive!

Trying to break a 1 month stall at 6 months post op, really frustrating. Fluids & Proteins are getting in, trying to keep at 900 calories still. Any suggestions? Is it common at 6 months to stall this long?

Why are you trying to keep to 900 calories? That seems really low for as far out as you are. What does your NUT advise?

I've been a a stall for a while. I ended up making a spreadsheet that calculates my deficits and forecasts my weight loss based on inputs. I realize that seems like overkill since I track on MFP but I am a math person and I need to take things apart and put them back together in order to figure out what I need to change.

I use BMR and it updates as my weight decreases so I know what I need to do. If your not into making a spreadsheet there's some really handy ones through google docs.

Oh this sounds awesome would you be able to post that info? I am looking for something more detailed as MFP just doesn't break it down enough for me and I'm not sure how to track it. I have tons of pieces of paper where I calculate and then try to add accordingly but this would be even better.

My NUT advised me to keep between 900-1000, but honestly I have a hard time getting in 800-900 daily. It's strange, the 900 was keeping me dropping up until this point. I can feel myself hungrier than before and of course able to fit in more food, but the fear of overeating is preventing me from eating more I suppose.

Do you think up-ing my intake would help break the stall? I am more active than I was before, perhaps my body is holding onto weight? It's quite a battle :(

I am 10 months in and also have been on a 2 month stall. Anyone have suggestions to kick start. I was thinking of starting post op liquid diet. Has anyone tried it?

I am doing a 5 day pouch reset. The first 2 days are liquid , cream Soups, hearty soups, clear broths then day 3 is soft Protein like tuna and salmon, yogurt and cottage cheese and string cheese is acceptable. sugar free fudge pops Protein Drinks etc, days 4 and 5 are fish and chicken with lightly seasoned veggies, tofu, and veggie patties. At least 64 oz of Water. Hoping this will help

Actually, I do think it would help to up your Protein and healthy carbs some, especially if you are exercising a lot.

Believe it or not, eating too few calories can be more detrimental to your weight loss than eating too many.

But, stalls do happen and are a natural and important part of the process. When you respond to a stall by cutting calories (protein in particular) you are starving your body from what it needs the most.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
