How much do you tip your nail tech?

Recommended Posts

I just had the second manicure and pedicure of my life today and I feel sooooo decadent! I love it! I have a feeling that I may have overtipped though, which is fine, because I think the girl deserved it but I want to know what is typical. Thank you!!

Oh, for the record, I had a mani/pedi with color for $38 dollars and gave her $48.

I think the 15-20% rule applies as with hair salon services. I always give $3-$4 on a $20 pedicure. I mean if you feel she really did a great job, then tip what you feel is fair. That was really cool of you.

Hi I Am Not Banded Yet. But I Can Answer This Question. I Have My Nails Done Every 10 Days Crystal Gel And A Pedi. The Cost Of This $35.00

I Tip The Girl Who Does My Pedi $3.00. She Also Keeps $8.00 Of The $15.00 Pedi. The Girl Who Does My Fill In Is The Owner. I Don't Tip Her. She Keeps The Rest Of The Money.

All Nail Techs Keep 60% (fills-full Sets-gel-pink-perm White- Etc), The House Gets 40%.

I usually tip $5 if I just get a manicure, $10 for a mani/pedi.

Women and their dang nails. How are you supposed to do any work?!

Men and their damn football, baseball, basketball, hockey, bowling, fishing, soccer, rugby, tennis, australian rules football, golf, and porn.

How are you supposed to do any work?

$15 and $20 for a pedi!! Gawd, I'm so envious. The least expensive around here is $30. They usually run about $45 or $50.

It's the one thing I have to have done. I'm in sandals almost year round. I only put on regular shoes when the snow gets above the cork line.

Jachut, that's great! It means that you pay your waitresses, etc., a living wage without them having to rely on tips!

Thanks everyone for your input, I guess I've been right on the money! =)

I tip $5.00 for a fill, $10.00 for a new set, and $10.00 for pedicure.

I just switched to the gel nails and I love them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
