I am new to this whole thing (1 week out) and I have a question. I know bread is a problem for us, but will I eventually be able to eat a wheat wrap? Thanks for any help you can give me on this!

I am 10 months out and yes I can certainly eat bread, wraps and that sort of thing but it actually feels like it clogs my pouch so I don't.

I remember when I was post op about 8 weeks, I wanted a sandwich so badly. I missed bread. Until I ate it the first time, then I lost interest.

I have since tried it a few more times and honestly i just don't feel right after.every once in a while I will have a half a piece of toast and that doesn't bothe me as much but if the bread is not toasted.......

The other thing is, it is very difficult to get your Protein and veggies in when eating bread so you end up missing your Protein goal for the day.

I have not eaten regular bread but i eat wraps all the time. I will eat chicken or steak wraps and don't have any problems with it. When i first tried it, i had difficulties with it feeling like it was getting stuck, but tried it again several weeks later and now no problems. If something doesn't feel right eating it at first, wait 2-3 weeks and try again and it could be different. That is one thing my doctor stressed to me.

I eat wraps, but I use lettuce. I haven't tried bread and I'm scared to. Maybe a few more months.

I have ate bread a couple of times. As everyone said, when I was about 4-weeks post op, I tried it and felt aweful immediately. I waited 3 weeks later and yeah wait a couple weeks later. I'm 7 weeks out and I have tried a wheat roll. Tiny small bites wet with gravy or broth. I ate my vegs and Protein then little bites of moistened bread. Haven't tried toast maybe I will this weekend when I am at home in case there is trouble because I do want some toast.

I agree with everyone if something does fit, try again later. Congrats, best of luck and keep us posted!

I was 2 weeks out when I ate toast, in accordance with my doctors plan. The only thing that occasionally gives me problems is Bagels. But small bites and chewing well helps!

what dobu use for your wraps? Not ingredients but wraps themselves. I use romaine but want a whole grain or spinach wrap.

i use mission carb control fajita size tortillas for wraps. i put a slice of deli ham, a slice of swiss and some mustard in and roll it up. they're a smaller size tortilla so great for wraps, and also to make tortilla pizzas with :)

@shellylester I am 7 weeks out, but have been able to eat those for a while. I progressed to normal food at 4 weeks.

I made the cloud bread and it turned out well. I wouldn't want it too much cause I think it could lead to eating carbs again. I would make it again! Not too hard to make

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
