3 weeks post op. - down 16 pounds.

@@jdodge0912

show off!!!

always nice to welcome a new person to sleeve land :)

you survived the first 3 weeks PO

woo hoo!!!

keep coming to the board

people will post their questions

many of these posts will be similar to thoughts you might have

ask your questions too

you'll see many great responses from others

advice, experiences, et al

at the end of the day ONLY listen to the good advice of your NUT (me too of course  )

NUT stands for nutritionist

follow all of the rules :)

Water IMO is the most important rule to follow

drink at least 64 oz a day

never drink while you are eating

(people have been shot for less)

after you eat - wait about 45 minutes before you drink

many other things to learn

eat slowly

chew, chew thoroughly

measure your small portions

eat your Protein first

don't eat too many carbs, sugar

the above are just the first of many new things to learn

keep track of all you eat on ie MFP (my fitness pal)

memorize all the answers - test to follow :D

you look like a "smarty pants"

you might have already known the above ;)

you might find some bumps, hills, up and downs, and the dreaded stalls too!!!

you are on the road to a healthier, happier, longer life :)

work hard

follow all the rules :)

i have confidence in you that you will do great :)

good luck

kathy

congrats

Welcome! I'm 7 weeks PO and recently got over a 2 1/2 week stall. Happy to say I'm 29 lbs done from surgery, 59 lbs done from the beginning of the year.

This is a great place to keep yourself encouraged and to find support during the inevitable hard times. Once again, welcome and of course.... CONGRATULATIONS!

Welcome!! Congratulations on your surgery. How are you feeling?? I haven't had mine but I see alot of negative comments about nausea, Constipation, hairloss, and other things after surgery which makes me have second thoughts about surgery. What are you experiencing??

No hunger pains neither. I have to make myself eat and drink. I went back to work on the 21 and I tend to forget about drinking. So I have to set a reminder to drink.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
