Just wanted to know if anyone had fibromyalgia before surgery. If so, did the pain stay the same, get better, or get worse? I have extreme muscular/joint pain and I don't know if I can handle the pain worsening. Also worried I wont be able to exercise if the pain doesn't get better.

I have Fibro...was diagnosed many years ago and have been on Morphine for many years also....I ahve to say the surgery has kind of helped some...I am still on my meds and still get epidurals every so often (also have degenerative disc disease in my low back)....I still have the pains that I had before, they just seem less so far or easier to deal with...maybe cause I have more energy and it's easier to move around? I am just over 2 months post-op....my advice, keep on your meds after and once you see the weight coming off and you are moving around more...and get the ok to start exercising....there are so many choices...I take a pool class (Twinges in the Hinges...an arthritis class) and that is really great, pre and post op :) I hope you find something that makes you feel better and I hope your surgery provides great results also...Fibro is a kick ass thing...never goes away, no cure...but my SUPER BAD days are MUCH less I have found so far.....Good Luck...

If you want to talk more about it all, feel free to contact me direct...my email is delaney75@hotmail.com!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
