Dizzy - 3 months and 3 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

I have had 2 dizzy spells today...pretty strong, and both have been while sitting down. All of a sudden, I feel very dizzy. I'm almost 4 months post op and get plenty of Water in and have had no troubles eating. Any suggestions/input?

If you really are getting enough fluids and sleep, My first guess would be low Iron. My second guess would be low Vitamin D. That has happened to me when I've been low on those.

If you are getting plenty of fluids and Protein, call your doctor and have you blood levels check. You may have a nutrient deficiency.

I found for month's 2 to 6 post op i was quite dizzy at times also. In the past month it has gotten better. My doctor said it is likely because my heartrate and blood pressure are so much lower then before surgery and my body is still adjusting. (Ekg was normal). My bp was 140/110 and heart rate was 85 to 95 preop and now bp is 110/65 and heart rate is 50 to 60. My doctor said if it continues to the 12 month mark we will run more tests but in the past few weeks i find it rarely happens now. Talk to your doc to rule out any serious issues but it can be pretty normal. My friend that had surgery also found the same thing for the first year. Good luck and be super careful and talk to your doctor. If you lose consciousness make sure you go to an er and don't just ignore it!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
