ShrinkingButtercup 60 Posted July 22, 2015 I'm still about 5 months out from surgery but I had my nutrition evaluation already. I was surprised to find that my surgeon's pre-op diet has features a very small but solid dinner (4oz lean Protein, 1 cup green veggies) My research has never seen anything like this. Is this unusual?
tera1982 194 Posted July 22, 2015 My VSG is September 1, 2015. My pre-op diet is all solids, there is NO liquid only or anything like that. It is a low calorie, low fat, low carb diet. I just don't eat or drink anything after midnight before surgery. I was wary due to seeing ALL of the posts about everyone else's diets, but I trust my surgeon and NUT. They are a center of excellence and he is a very well known, well rated doc with a ton of surgeries under his belt. I'm also interested in any others out there who had similar diets. Good luck with everything!!
Charm82 18 Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Congrats on starting your journey @! No this is not unusual at all, I'm currently on my on my 2 week pre-op (liver shrinking) diet and it's a 1000 calorie diet with all food except on the day before surgery I'll have all liquids. Keep in mind that the pre-op diet can be done multiple ways and it varies depending on the hospital, surgeon, bariatric program and patient. Research is great but don't lock into it.
