Hi guys! I am still pre-op but figured this would be the appropriate forum to ask- how long did you take off work for the surgery? I have currently told work about one to two weeks. I just sit on a computer all day and I think I could work from home if necessary. Just trying to get a consensus of what other patients have done. Thanks!

Everyone's recovery is different. My advice... plan for the worst and hope for the best. If you can get flexibility to return early if you feel great that is the best. Personally, I spent 24 hours in the hospital took no narcotic pain meds and was back at work several days early the next week and was fine. Others struggle a bit with hydration food and energy in general. YMMV.

I work from home on a computer all day. The first week I couldn't have worked if I wanted to. I was so totally wiped out exhausted I didn't stay awake a lot. The second week I was still exhausted and only worked about 4-5 hours a day. By week 3 it was better and I was back to work full time.

I'm in week 7 and I still can't sit in my chair at my desk for too long. I'm working from the couch and the coffee table instead. The chair makes my back and side hurt really bad still.

I took 11 days but really could have gone back to work early at 7 days. I took the time to rest and heal. I started driving at day 5 and worked on building my energy back up. I recover pretty quickly from surgery and also have a mostly desk job.

Everyone's input is wonderful! It really helps gauge how things can possibly go. I tend to get stir crazy if I stay inside too long so I am shooting for heading back to work after one week with the flexibility of needing to go home if I become too tired/pain from chair.

At Least 1 full week, but it really depends on how your surgery goes. 2 full weeks would be even better.

I got sleeved on Thursday, flew back from Mexico on Sunday and was at work Monday morning at 8:30. The first week was tiring, but I just sit at a desk so it was totally doable. I missed literally two days of work.

My dr gave me 6 weeks and since my employer is paying for all six weeks, I will be off for that long. :)

Lucky! I am just taking 2 days paid time off and 3 days unpaid...
