26Amy 1 Posted July 22, 2015 Hi, I'm new here and am wondering if there are any fellow Australians on here? I had my first consult today and my Dr was really positive and said I'm an ideal sleeve candidate so all going well, I'll have my sleeve done next June (after the wait for my health cover). NaomiAus 104 Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Hey! I'm australian, looking to get sleeved early November, like you waiting for my insurance waiting period to be over. I met with my surgeon early November last year and am booked to see him early September to start all the pre-op testing and hopefully book in a date for surgery. From my experience, the wait will drag by for the first couple of months, and then out of nowhere, you've only got a couple of months to go. Good luck on your journey and I'm here if you want a buddy Edited July 22, 2015 by NaomiAus

I've got referrals for mine so have to have them by April 2016.
dietbelle 36 Posted December 10, 2015 My date has been set for 9th February I live in Brisbane. Seeing the dietician tomorrow.. Excited but also a little apprehensive.. What happens if it doesn't go well.. All the ifs and buts
dietbelle 36 Posted January 10, 2016 I have been told not to diet before the op I am nervous because I don't want the Doc opening me up and then deciding my liver is too fat to do the operation. What did your Doc say?
Rainstorm77 5 Posted January 16, 2016 Hey fellow Aussies I am looking to get sleeved in the next few months. But I will be heading to Mexico for it. The surgeons there are world class and it's amazingly cheap compared to AU. I spend half my time in the US as my husband is American so since I will already be there... why not! I looked at some clinics over here but the price nearly gave me a heart attack! Even with top cover health insurance at $400 a month, times that by 2 years (12 month waiting and 12 month post op services ) and you're already at $10k before you pay for the surgery which is another $5 - $7k out of pocket so $15k+!! I am so excited and wish I could have done this 2 decades ago.
aussiecosy 36 Posted December 29, 2016 Hi there guys! I'm here to announce I'm finally getting to see my surgeon on 17th of Jan 2017 in Sydney Nepean private hospital. You can't even imagine how crazy excited I am!!! My mind so freaked out! I have so many questions running around in my head hehe. Is there anyone who could help me to calm down and answer at least some of them? Thanks all and happy holidays! xoxo Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 1 Debmelb reacted to this

aussiecosy 36 Posted January 1, 2017 Happy Chrissy and New Year all! As I was promised will get sleeved within 2 weeks after seeing my doctor. Just enough time to get all the preps done. So now I need to ask you guys about those things: 1. Do I need to contact my insurance to claim before I see me doctor or after I meet him? Or maybe I don't need at all and hospital does it for there patients? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
aussiecosy 36 Posted January 1, 2017 2. What type of Protein you guys use? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
aussiecosy 36 Posted January 1, 2017 3. Did you start a diet before seeing your surgeon? Or you can't do anything without him prescribing a diet? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
erica_ozzy73 241 Posted January 1, 2017 I did a 2 week pre op diet cause I had a fatty liver and I guess it's a goood way to get used to eating bugger all and to weigh less before surgery is always a bonus. I use boomers Protein powder which is tasteless and I can add it to anything although I do have a vanilla one which I can't remember atm which i have started to use now cause in the beginning after my sleeve I was a little lactose intolerant.
