Food on the brain! 6 days post-op

Recommended Posts

Guys...I had my surgery July 15th. I'm feeling great - gaining more energy every day. But, I can't stop thinking about food! The smell of it, commercials kill me- especially pizza, thinking about a certain meal, visualizing what it looks like on a fork - even dreaming about it! It's kind of torture???

I'm not alone, right? And will this end?? I start my pureed diet tomorrow...I'm hoping with the introduction of more foods I'll calm down a little!

I am 6 days out also. The 10 day pre-op diet broke me of most of my food cravings. I am still interested in food if I smell it, but it is all in my head, it does not translate to my stomach. If I think about something else it passes.

I try to refocus my thoughts/energy and focus on what I will look like down the road when I have lost X amounts of pounds and use the power of that image to resist.

Plus we can't eat right now away, it can be fatal, or at least land you in the ICU. If you pop your staple line that is like sending acid through your whole stomach cavity. That is enough to scare me straight.

Oh, I would never risk that! When I decided to do this, this is what I committed to. No matter how hard it gets! :) congrats on your surgery! I'm down 20 lbs since my pre-op diet began! 15 before surgery, 5 since. :)

Yes, once I started solid food, the head hunger stopped. Head hunger SUCKS.

But I was on liquids post surgery for 6 weeks. That's another story :P

That's EXACTLY what it is! Head hunger! Haha I've never heard the proper term but that nails it. :)

I thought I was losing my mind. Not hungry but starved. Had nightmares about overeating. Started around day 6. Had one week visit with surgeon yesterday and he said not too worry common
