Ignorant bi#@h

Recommended Posts

I understand why that sort of shitt is so maddening. There's no reason for it, other than the person saying it gets to feel superior in some sort of sick way.

My advice is to let it go, and marginalize her. Instead of stewing about it, next time, just call her out and then let it go. People who like to slide in back-handed comments typically don't do well with a straightforward dressing down. You didn't like her before, and you are never going to. She clearly feels the same way. She's just acting out in the way that pushes your buttons, and then she can sit back and watch the show. She's backhanded, manipulative, and unpleasant. My guess is that this is her way, and not unique to her interactions with you.

She can only steal your positive energy and thunder if you let her. You will carry on, you will succeed, and she'll still be the unpleasant, unhappy misery queen that she is.

No, she's not saying it behind my back. My boss who lost weight on her own showed an old pic of herself when she was 300 lbs, and this b***h says...I'm so happy for you, at least you did it the hard way, and not the easy way!! I know its a dig at me cause if I never had the surgery, she wouldn't have said that. I dont value her opinion at all, that's why she wasn't one of the coworkers I told about the surgery. It just annoys me that she's so ignorant.

You must be talking about my mom....this is the same crap she says about me to my sister & brother....I never told her I had surgery. ..and never will!

Invite her to dine with you for a day? Even offer to make her meals for her. See how long she thinks the WLS diet is easy for.

I would talk to your boss and let her know that you find this woman's comments not only hurtful and unprofessional, but they could be construed as sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. We've had HR training and you never, EVER, talk about someone's weight, body, looks, etc. Let your boss know that this woman's nastiness is creating an unprofessional atmosphere, and that you would like it to stop. Your boss knows you had surgery, and your boss heard her comment about the "easy way out."

News alert: The last thing your boss wants to do is to arbitrate this bitch fest. She wants you both to STFU and get back to work.

So, no, don't make this your boss's problem.

She's probably jealous. Or, just plain unhappy with her plight in life. When that much bitterness seeps out imagine how much is still in there.

As a former boss, I know how much one negative person can drag down an entire office ... and you can guarantee that someone who takes catty digs at one staff member will be doing it to others, as well. I've had to deal with that in the past and it was something I happily dealt with because you cannot let one person do so much damage. And they rely on you feeling like you shouldn't make a fuss, that you should just put up with it.

And as someone who has done the major weight loss thing, I know how uncomfortable it can be when someone sticks their nose in where it isn't welcome. There's absolutely no way they'd pass comment on someone else gaining weight, and they'd certainly never ask how much they'd put on, so why the hell do they think it's OK to get so personal with those of us losing weight? My dear old mum taught me some manners, so I'd never ask that question.

My husband's boss is a prime example of someone who doesn't know where the personal boundaries should be: asked me in front of a bunch of their colleagues I'd never met before how much weight I'd lost and how much loose skin I had. I simply told him that I suspected my weight loss was probably on par with his hair loss (he's a bit sensitive about his rapidly receding hairline) and that my excess skin would rival the excess skin now on his head. He's never asked again. Luckily, I'm the youngest in a big family and don't get easily embarrassed!

Sure, I've been bullied. Not sure I'm a bully, although (like you) I usually say what I think. Sorry you're angry.

I hope the OP will tell us what happens if she takes this issue to the boss to resolve.

VSGAnn2014 calls "a spade a spade" and is straight forward.

I don't believe she meant to be offensive, only that her supervisor may not want to be stuck in the middle of this.

She never told the OP to STFU, she only hypothesized what a supervisor might think in regard to this.

My mistake; sorry. Posts can be misleading sometimes. It was right after a reply that it appeared to be related to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
