Sleeved May 28. Lost 10# prior to surgery, 20# more by end of June, then up and down all through July. My daily caloric intake as a pretty sedentary person is around 3500 calories. My daily workout adds another 350 or so. I routinely eat around 1100 cals/day and never more than 1500 but the weight is not coming off.

I'm tempted to go back to pre-surgery diet but I don't know how long I can last on that. Since surgery, I sometimes get very dizzy to the point of almost passing out accompanied by a partial hearing loss. I know my blood pressure is lower now but normal, not low.

Wondering if any guys can input about whether I'm eating too much, not enough, or whatever.

Hey mulepick, I don't have definite input, but, will share what I've been told. See, I'm in the same boat. I was revised from lapband to sleeve May 1, lost 30 lbs. since pre-op diet and am currently stuck at the same weight. The past month(s) I've been down 3 pounds, then, up 3 pounds. My Gym workouts are 45 minutes cardio, burning 800 - 1000 calories, then, 30 minute strenght training. I've met with a nutritionist and also a trainer and they both tell me that I'm not eating enough calories and my body is in starvation mode. I know that I'm repeating myself as I've posted all this before, but, the issue is that I just cannot eat more with sleeve. I'm doing Protein shakes inbetween meals and was really sick of them until recently when I concocted a tasty Protein consisting of Walmart vanilla creme Muscle Milk, with 1/4 cup oatmeal, 1 banana or Peanut Butter. I'm trying to drink 2 of these throughout the day, but, they fill me up quickly. Anyhow, let's see if this works. I've asked this question on other sites and the frequent response I get is that I have to find what works for me. It gets frustrating! I want to reach goal one day of 190 lbs, but, I'm not getting there anytime soon, so it seems This probably isn't much help, but, if nothing else, feel at ease that you are not alone. jake

We do seem to have similar experiences. I went to checking my weight every week now just to avoid the up/down and this week I'm at a new low of 293 about 5# down since last Friday. This was just after my workout so may be a little optimistic; I'll take it again tomorrow.

Interesting that you get advice to eat more. Maybe I'm being influenced by all the ladies on here eating 800 calories and such. I feel bad when I go over 1100 but perhaps shouldn't considering my metabolism and workout regime.

5 lbs. is substantial! Maybe it was just a plateau that you hit and you're out of it! Man, I hope that's what it is/was. I know how frustrating it can be! Let me know how it goes. I see my sleeve doc. next week and will ask him about needing more calories suggestion(s). I want to beleive that it is so, because before I had the lapband removed and revised I was stuck on the same weight with the lapband for 2 years doing the same gym routine. Now sleeved, I've added strenght training along side the cardio hoping to break the cycle, plateau or whatever it is. I do know for sure that my clothing fit much better, so, there is some good news. I was content with that for awhile, but, until the scale shows it, I will continue to stress. jake

My husband and I were sleeved the same day almost 2 yrs ago. He was on 800-900 calories a day for the first 12 months made up of 5 to 6 small meals. Not sure if you are getting your calories from 3 meals or more ? If it's 3 try to break it up into 5. I would be worried if the dizzy spells continue for any length of time and suggest you visit your Dr for full blood works. After 12 months my husband was at goal and increased his calories to 1400. All the exercise he does is a 1 hr walk everyday his weight was 275lb and he is now at his goal of 176lb. Hope this helps

800-900 calories sounds low to me particularly if he was walking an hour/day. Can't argue with the results though.

Hey there. As far as dizziness I got that at and sometimes still do, usually due to lack of hydration, how much liquid are you drinking per day? Also seems most can eat around 800 to 1000 calories a day, what's your daily diet look like? 1500 calories is lot post surgery. Surgeon has said pre op. That could jump start weight loss again by doing preop diet every so often, so you could try that too. Good luck hang in there

Dizziness and low BP can also be related to low Iron and/or low B-12. I'd make sure you're following your Vitamin regimen and get labs checked.

I've been taking a B complex every week but the only Iron is what is in my multi Vitamin. I'll go back for blood tests if this keeps up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
