Anyone else having a hard time getting pain meds?

Recommended Posts

My liquid hydrocodone had to come from a compounding pharmacy, which in my case was mail order (but was all set up by my surgeon's office).

I ended up getting them all (all my pre and post surgery rxs) in the mail a few days beforehand.

Hi @@Gumpgal

Just wanted to tell you that I had no problem getting my liquid hydrocodone prescription. Just got back. But I'm Kaiser and they have their own in house pharmacies. Only charged my usual co pay of $10.00 too.

I hope you are able to eventually get yours too! Good luck!

I went through the same thing, they don't keep that much on hand so they have to order it. Hopefully they have it. If not it should be in by the time you get out of the hospital. It works great by the way and I didn't use half of what I was prescribed. I wish you well on your surgery.

@@Trayjay33, congrats on your surgery. I have to ask.... How was your experience? Pain wise? Lol I know everyone is different, I am starting to get really anxious.

I'm glad they will have the medication in for you tomorrow. I had a revision from lap band to gastric bypass. My initial pain while in the hospital was more than with the lap band but nothing that wasn't managed by the pain meds. I was able to walk around sooner after the bypass that with the lap band. Walking as much as tolerated also helped with decreasing gas pains. I didn't wait until the pain became intolerable before taking the medicine and I took Tylenol sometimes so I didn't have to take the controlled pain med. It's normal to feel a bit anxious because it's surgery but RNY is so worth it. I'm 9 months out and down about 105 pounds and 20 pounds from my goal. I'm just telling you that because the surgery works. You will be fine, don't over think it! ????

Thanks @@Trayjay33! Surgery is next Tuesday. I am trying to focus on the end game. Taking one anxious moment at a time and trying to work through it ????

Anyone know if during the time you have to have liquid Meds or crushed pills, if you can do injections instead? I know it sounds odd but I'd much rather give myself a shot than drink something nasty.

I had the same issue with my prescription also, no one had it in stock. I called the hospital pharmacy where I was having my surgery done and they filled it for me while I was there.

My surgeon wrote me a script for liquid pain meds to have filled prior to surgery. My surgery is next Tuesday and I can't find a pharmacy that carries the medicine?!

Try the hospital pharmacy. I got mine delivered to me bedside just before I checked out!
