9 Weeks Post Op and feeling wonderful!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on May 25, 15 in Tijuana, Mexico by dr. Ponce de leon. I have to say that if was the most positive experience for me and my husband. I had the best of care from the nurses, doctors and especially our cooridinators, Little Robert & Carmen, Little Robert was at the hospital within the hour of our arrival and took my husband for something to eat (he is diabetic), that gesture alone eased my mind before going into surgery. They prepared me for surgery by doing blood work and EKG and gave me something to relax me. Surgery took about 45 minutes and I did not experience any pain or gas, I was up walking around about 3 hours after the anestitic wore off, I did get sick the next day but it only lasted about an hour and I was able to resume my walking. I was released after 2 day but they had to do a leak test first, I drank this clear liquid and was placed between a machine where i could watch the liquid going down my stomach, I found it cool but other people may not..lol, it was painless and I was given 2 cds, one from the leak test and one from my surgery.

Once i was released from the hospital, we were driven to the new Hyatt Hotel where we stayed for 3 days until our flight on Saturday. Our other coordinator Carmen was also there when we arrived and stayed with us throughout the week and showed us around the neighbourhood, he went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay, from finding my husband diabetic socks (his feet hurt when he walked) to a measuring cup for me to make sure I had the right amount of liquid intake and making sure I was taken care of during our walks. His small gestures certainly made our trip memorable and I would recommend BariatricPal to anyone battling obesity and want a healthier life style.

I am down 48 pounds and am learning how to make healthy food choices, I walk everyday without pain and just feel that I have a second chance at life, which I am certainly taking advantage of thanks to David Lopez and BariatricPal.

If anyone would like to chat with me about my experience, I would be more than happy to discuss it.

thanks

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
