plantar fascitis/Heel pain

Recommended Posts

Anyone have heel pain before getting sleeved? My weight started to creep up after having the band removed several months ago. Now I notice that I'm having terrible heel pain in the A.M. After walking or standing, It starts to go away. Anyone experience this?

That's me! Had PF and 2 Achilles Tendon surgeries in the year before my sleeve surgery. My foot pain was the #1 reason I decided to have the sleeve. I went from working out 5-6 days a week to barely being able to stand in the shower.

Here is what I can say 6 months post-op: it is SO MUCH better! I have lost 53 pounds and it makes the world of difference w/ my foot pain. It isn't gone completely and I continue to work with specialists and therapists to get it back to 100%. But, losing weight has helped a ton!

In the meantime, I recommend a night brace to help keep foot stretched and help with early morning pain. Footsmart.com

Also, reflexology for PF helped a ton pre-op!

Good luck to you!

Had horrible PF before I was banded. In down about 70 and it resolved but now I have pain on the top of my foot and ankle so I have to go see the dr again. I can't take Advil so not sure what I can do about this. Acupuncture? PT? My whole right knee is thrown off because I'm walking funny

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
