Preop liver shrinking diet....need motivation, 9 more days!

Hi everyone! I have my gastric bypass scheduled for July 30th. I'm on day 5 of my diet. I'm not feeling too hungry but the cravings are killing me ????. I know they are only in my head. How do I look past this stage? On the positive side, I've lost 5 lbs on this diet. ????. Any suggestions or advice to help?

I am afraid I don't have any great advice other than just keep your eye on the prize. The cravings are tough but each time you overcome one is a step closer to healthier life. What can you have? liquids only? I could only have liquids but it was only 7 days and I was craving savory foods desperately. The Swansons Tortilla Soup broth saved me (though it was a little too spicy).

I have to do 2 weeks. Its the 3 Protein shakes a day. The shakes can be choc, straw, or van. Or Instead of the shakes i can have cream of chicken or cream of broccoli and chedder. The 2 Soups saves me so I can have another options.then in between in can have the SF Jello or the FF/LS chicken broth or SF popsicles. Guess its more cravings when I have to cook for my family and just know I can't have it.

So close, yet so far. So many emotions ????

I agree @@wagers0990, it's not as bad as I thought either. The good thing is I'm not physically hungry and the other thing is i don't have the headaches. Like I said its just the cravings and the thoughts of something. All in the head lol. What i've been doing so far is psyching myself out by pretending I ate a slice of pizza 20 minutes ago lol ???? or the Pasta I made my family this evening, then it usually passes.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

      Woohoo! I have 7 more days till surgery, So far I am already down a total of 20lbs since I started this journey.
