I haven't had WLS yet just starting the process. Does anyone that had a rny have problems with food getting stuck in a too small outlet?

You will learn real quick what you can and cannot eat. bread, Pasta and rice weight real heavy on my stomach and just will not stay down. I cannot even pinch off a piece of tortilla....it seems to get stuck....which is all good since I don't need any of this. Lots of meats are still hard on my stomach. I have to have lots of moisture to eat meat. I always say that I can tell as soon as it goes in my mouth if it is not going to go down.

I have only had problems with Bagels, usually because I am not chewing well enough!

I had my first really stuck, stuck food today. We are on vacation and went to IHOP for Breakfast, I got a cheese omelet...ouch. I eat eggs all the time at home but something about that omelet was bad for me. It was extremely painful.

Rnwrny- I HOP puts a bit of pancake batter in their eggs to make them more fluffy so that may be why you had a hard time with it cause it's more dense then normal eggs.

Everything goes down for me as long as I chew it up really well. My pouch does not always agree that's the problem for me. If meat is too dry it will get hung up and is painful. bread and Pasta, it's a lost hope. I believe living gluten free is actually better for me anyway.

I've had two stuck experiences, one was when I ate a piece of sausage off of a pizza. It felt like a flaming metal ball slowing working its way down my chest. Also, some hamburger meat, same feeling. I think it was just too early for those foods at the time, neither give me trouble now, as long as I chew chew chew.

The yolk of boiled eggs don't go down smoothly for me, but they don't get stuck. Same with deli ham. I usually try and paper with something that eases swallowing.

Walking was the only thing that helped me with a stuck. I have not been able to throw up my stucks.

Are most people with a bypass unable to vomit?

I wouldn't say so. I have vomited once, but it wasn't because I was stuck. It was cause curry seasoning didn't agree with my new tummy.

I have vomited once and it was because I didn't chew well enough and food got stuck. All 2 tablespoons came up :) Lesson learned chew, chew, chew.

Our bariatric binder includes a section for stuck food. It says to take some meat tenderizer in Water to disolve the food.< /p>

The only meat I seem to have trouble with consistently is pork chops even if they're moist. I did forget, and ate a peach with the skin on once, and that was a disaster. I threw up several times befor it all came back up. Most of the time what makes me threw up is eating too much, but that is a very rare thing for me.

I have a question about throwing up or vomiting. Do you have to gag and retch or does food just come up by itself?

Early on I had experience with fish and turkey not going down. But I think that had to do with not chewing enough. Certain foods are a bit uncomfortable-I occasionally eat peanuts and chew them really well, but I sometimes having a tickle in my throat afterwards for awhile. I haven't been too adventurous with many meats yet, so I can't say if chicken is a problem like it is for many people.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
