The food just came up. I didn't have to force it, but sometimes throwing up would make me gag a little.

Vomit a lot at even drinking Water, there's a risk of ulcers after surgery and unfortunately I found out that's what I have and it's why I kept vomiting, risky surgery but I don't regret it. Post op since June 9 lost 59 pounds already

I had a similar vomitting problem, but mine turned out to be a stricture. After they did a balloon dilation I felt much better. They told me that my stricture was so tight that they couldn't dilate it as much as they wanted to, so I might have to go back and do it again if I start having issues again. So far so good though.

@@SybrgreenTX this is good to hear! I am supposed to (hopefully) have this procedure today. I haven't been able to eat since Monday. So hoping this is the fix.

It was pretty painless and worked like a charm. It's basically the same as an endoscopy. I went in at 7 and was home before lunchtime. Before the dilation I was throwing up a few times a day and I was hungry all the time cause I wasn't keeping anything down. Now my digestive system has normalized, and I hardly ever throw up. Every once in awhile I'll eat too fast or meat thats too dry and it won't stay down. But other than that I feel great.

Everyone has slightly different experiences, but I would say most can/do vomit at some point. I thought that would be right after surgery, but it wasn't. They did a great job of proactively preventing nausea in the hospital. It was when I transitioned to solid food that I had trouble.

Your pouch can only handle so much, but that doesn't mean that you are going to recognize right away when it is full. I experienced normal to extra hunger, was so grateful to eat, then struggled after a few bites. Eating slowly and chewing well is key, but for some of us.... it takes a lot of practice and unpleasant experiences before it becomes a habit!

I have learned that I don't do well with fast food or highly processed foods or reheated leftovers or meat that was frozen and has dried a bit. That's not a bad thing! Eating fresh, unprocessed food is a great thing. I learned to have small, high Protein Snacks around that I thought tasted great and was fresh... smoked salmon, smoked oysters, prosciutto-wrapped soft cheese sticks (Walmart or Costco). Figuring out what works and tastes special is a great focus! There are lots of good bariatric cookbooks out there to help.

Sometimes your tastes and preferences change after surgery... but mostly what you like before is what you will like after.

@@SybrgreenTX - Had my EGD / dilation today. You were right it was painless. I was asleep maybe 15 minutes. No throat pain but I do have sinus pain. I guess from the oxygen in my nose or something. Anyway, I have a VERY tight stricture. Like maybe pin hole sized. Dr. was shocked. She was able to enlarge it slightly but has referred me to a gastroenterologist who will have to do the procedure another couple of times. She called it "serial dilations"? Haven't quite figured out what that means yet other than seems to mean each time it is with a slightly larger balloon. The good news is that I feel much better already! I have to stick with a liquid diet for at least a week but I was finally able to get a Protein shake in finally! I have to really concentrate and take tiny sips but trust me I will take that over the last 3 days of vomiting any day! Hoping to move on to pureeds again after one week but she said we will just have to see how I do. Meantime, I have to give my esophagus / stomach a rest for a little while. I am SO relieved that this was not all in my head! I know that sounds nuts but after a day in the ER where they pretty much just sent me back home without an answer, I was thinking I was just a hypochondriac! My surgeon didn't do the procedure, but the dr that did even said right before the procedure that it was likely just a learning curve issue in learning how to eat. In a weird way, I was so glad to prove her wrong!!

Apologies to OP for hijacking your post!

It took awhile for them to figuer out what was wrong with me. I had to keep a food journal for a couple of weeks and then it was still just a lucky guess cause nothing else made sense. I'm glad they figure it out though for both of us.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
