Hello everyone! I just wanted to know how soon were you able to eat salad (lettuce, Tomato, etc..) and are you able to tolerate it. I'm on week 5, I was told around week 6 I would be able to...I love a good salad!

I was eating salads somewhere around 4 -6 weeks, but I was addition spinach raw or frozen to my Protein Shakes from day 1. I never had any issues with vegetable raw or cooked.

Saw my doc at the 5.5 week mark and she gave me the go-ahead for salads.

I am three months out and had about a half a piece of lettuce about a month ago. I am going to try a salad in the near future, it's just not high on my priority list. As to tomatoes, I've been eating raw Tomato for a couple of months.

I've been eating salads since 6 weeks postop, but nothing remotely like I ate them pre-op -- I can handle half cup of salad plus Protein at the most. No big huge bowls of it anymore!

I'm the same as you. No raw vegetables at all until 3 months post-op. I'm looking forward to them.

I think the thing that people don't realize is that we really must focus on Protein in the beginning. That makes people the most successful in this process.

Yes, but texture is also a huge issue early out. I started cooked veggies during my soft phase but have held off on more fibrous raw vegetables.

A year out and can't do raw salads. As a matter of fact, I can barely do raw veggies. I can do spinach, tomatoes, & cukes raw but that's about it. Anything else uncooked pi$$e$ off my sleeve. This includes fruits like grapes and apples, sadly.

As an alternative I'll roast my veggies and mix up to make what I call a roasted vegetable salad. It can be a mix of any veg that can stand up to heat, a bit of olive oil or non-stick spray, herbs and a grind of sea salt. I mostly stick with lower-carb veggies like green Beans, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, onions, peppers or whatever the farmer's market had or what I have in my veggie patch. Since its summer I'll throw sweet corn into the mix...about 1/8 of a whole ear. I'll also top off with crumbled bacon that's been de-greased. Yumm. I make it for whole family and can get in about 1/4 cup after I eat the pure Protein.< /p>

That sounds delicious. I used to enjoy a good salad and hope to again some day, but I could really enjoy that too.

I started salads at the end of week 3. My surgeon puts everyone on solids between day 10 and day 14. I eat one pretty much every day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
