mperez1982 11 Posted July 20, 2015 Hello everyone! I just wanted to know how soon were you able to eat salad (lettuce, Tomato, etc..) and are you able to tolerate it. I'm on week 5, I was told around week 6 I would be able to...I love a good salad!
mallen1895 108 Posted July 20, 2015 I'm at 8 weeks and I eat salads a lot with no problems. My doctor told me after 6 weeks
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted July 20, 2015 I was eating salads somewhere around 4 -6 weeks, but I was addition spinach raw or frozen to my Protein Shakes from day 1. I never had any issues with vegetable raw or cooked.

SleevePerry 248 Posted July 20, 2015 Saw my doc at the 5.5 week mark and she gave me the go-ahead for salads.
AlanaRN 419 Posted July 20, 2015 I wasn't allowed salads till 3 months.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted July 20, 2015 I am three months out and had about a half a piece of lettuce about a month ago. I am going to try a salad in the near future, it's just not high on my priority list. As to tomatoes, I've been eating raw Tomato for a couple of months. LisaPunkinHead 187 Posted July 20, 2015 I've been eating salads since 6 weeks postop, but nothing remotely like I ate them pre-op -- I can handle half cup of salad plus Protein at the most. No big huge bowls of it anymore!
TakeitorSleeveit 124 Posted July 20, 2015 I wasn't allowed salads till 3 months. I'm the same as you. No raw vegetables at all until 3 months post-op. I'm looking forward to them.
AlanaRN 419 Posted July 20, 2015 (edited) I think the thing that people don't realize is that we really must focus on Protein in the beginning. That makes people the most successful in this process. Edited July 20, 2015 by AlanaRN

That makes people the most successful in this process. Yes, but texture is also a huge issue early out. I started cooked veggies during my soft phase but have held off on more fibrous raw vegetables. tomi71 581 Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) A year out and can't do raw salads. As a matter of fact, I can barely do raw veggies. I can do spinach, tomatoes, & cukes raw but that's about it. Anything else uncooked pi$$e$ off my sleeve. This includes fruits like grapes and apples, sadly. As an alternative I'll roast my veggies and mix up to make what I call a roasted vegetable salad. It can be a mix of any veg that can stand up to heat, a bit of olive oil or non-stick spray, herbs and a grind of sea salt. I mostly stick with lower-carb veggies like green Beans, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, onions, peppers or whatever the farmer's market had or what I have in my veggie patch. Since its summer I'll throw sweet corn into the mix...about 1/8 of a whole ear. I'll also top off with crumbled bacon that's been de-greased. Yumm. I make it for whole family and can get in about 1/4 cup after I eat the pure Protein.< /p> Edited July 21, 2015 by tomi71

I used to enjoy a good salad and hope to again some day, but I could really enjoy that too.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted July 21, 2015 I love roasted veggies. I also love the toppings of a salad. I like to make a cottage cheese salad, and put olives and things that I would normally eat on a salad in my cottage cheese.< /p>

I eat one pretty much every day.
