I am being sleeved in a few days. I've been on the pre op diet which is going OK. I am curious about the post op diet though.
I am supposed to be on pureed foods (or liquids) for 4 weeks, with the exception of the first couple days which are Clear liquids.

My question is did anyone really eat and enjoy the pureed foods?
The sample recipes they have given me (normal foods such as eggs, chicken, Beans, tuna, veggies (but all pureed) do not sound very appealing. And baby food (another suggestion) I can't imagine eating.

I was thinking of just doing the Protein Shakes, greek yogurt, Soups, for those four weeks.

What were other people's experiences during the first few weeks of post op diet before going on regular foods?

I was on Clear Liquids for a week, and then full liquids for another week before I got to have pureed/soft foods. So, yes.....by the time I got to that phase, I loved those eggs and blenderized tuna salad a whole bunch. LOL

By the time you're actually able to eat pureed foods after being on the liquid diet, a dead rat will taste good pureed. Believe me.

But with that being said I mainly stuck with refried Beans and ricotta cheese bake. They really are good though.

I don't eat meat so I was just eating a lot of cheesy eggs, smashed Beans, yogurt and cottage cheese in addition to Protein Shakes. It was only 2 weeks and it was a heck of a lot better than the all liquid phase so I had no complaints.

I'm allowed blenderized chicken salad on my soft foods phase. But you should really check with your surgeon or nutritionist to make sure about your own plan.

I have checked the information they gave me, it just sounds so unappealing I thought I would see what others did.

Thanks to everyone for their comments on this so far!

Yep...I was happy to finally get pureed food when the time came, too. I made a beef stew, very light on the potatoes, with carrots, onions, etc. I pureed some of it and froze it in an ice cube tray. One microwaved cube made me very happy and it tasted great. The stew lasted until I was moving into the soft foods phase.

I was on liquids for one week and puree for 3 weeks. But to be honest I started eating normal food with the exception of bread or Pasta. I created the puree stage in my mouth before I swallowed. I have not had any problems doing it this way.

branden2011, I guess you just had to take very small bites, (plus chew a lot)?

Honestly, if you offered me most of what I was eating during my "purée" phase before surgery and even now I would probably turn my nose up at it but after being on liquids for almost a month (pre and post) I was THRILLED to have that stupid pea soup! Haha. I am pescatarian so I stuck to pureed Soups, Beans, yogurt, ricotta, etc so I never tried the blended meat option but it didn't sound very appetizing. However, by the time you are able to get to purees I think you'll be happy to eat something (anything) new.

Blended Wendy's chili was good.

I had 10 days pre-op full liquid. Post op was 1 week clear liquid, 1 week full liquid then 1 week pureed. So I am going to echo everyone else being able to have pureed is pretty good.

I did not like the baby food.

I didn't mind the pureed chicken salad. I sometimes bought the buffalo chicken or chipotle chicken flavored for variety. I would also put a tiny bit of BBQ Sauce in with the mayo to puree.

Pureed egg salad is good. I added some Guldens mustard for a little flavor.

Cottage cheese and yogurt were good.

Pureed Soups were okay. I did like homemade split pea Soup or bean Soup since I make those pretty thick. A couple of bites and I was full.

As I got closer to the soft foods stage I would blend it a little bit less so there were very small soft pieces in the puree.

I did use Protein shakes for at least one meal a day during the puree stage. I was drinking a Protein shake a day until about 4.5 months in just to make sure I was getting my Protein.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
