December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?

Recommended Posts

I'm 1 day post op. Surgery took place last night. My surgery was easy and straight forward, sleeve took 30 mins from rolling back to OR to when doc came and told my friend I was heading to recovery.

I woke up from anethesia very very sick. I vomited a few times. And was shocked by the pain.

Just a couple hours later I had figured out the morphene drip and was up and moving. I had many nurses who were really shocked by my willpower. One even said I looked like a visitor, not someone who just had surgery. I was released this morning at 10am, just 16 hours from when I had my surgery. I feel great. Went and got my meds filled and picked up some yogurt and Soup. I am glad I had such a great recovery... That's one thing I was worried about.

I'm glad you feel great and I am going to pray I am as blessed as you and have the same experience.

Hello all - new to the forum. I'm scheduled for VSG January 20. I'm waiting for insurance approval and begin my LSD in 10 days as the surgeon wants that 30 days preop. I'm quite nervous and really have to talk to myself to remain calm and ensure myself this was the right decision. From other boards, I see this is pretty normal. I've passed all preoperative tests and had gallbladder removed almost 4 weeks ago. Preoperative education class is January 6. I'm excited for the results, but I'm also so afraid that this won't be as successful as I hope, especially since I've not lost that much during the last 5 months.

I only lost 13 pounds on my pre-op diet, but I wasn't as concerned about pre-op as I am post-op. Mentally, I'm prepared and ready to make the changes to make this successful. Don't worry yourself over the pre-op stuff. Just stay focused on the surgery and the post-op instructions!! :)

Great responses! If your dr wanted you to lose a specific amount then they are good about telling us. I have been in here and asked a ton about the liquid pre op diet...do the best you can!

My rules frome my surgeons program is:

1. Do the best you can!

2. 5 shakes a day max. Must be under 5 grams of sugar. So I got 3 flavors of Premium Protein, my favorite. Then I got 4 flavors of EAS carb control. So I made sure I had variety over 7 days. That is 35 shakes!!

3. I got a big jug of isolate whey protein unflavored powder.< /p>

4. Then drink 64 Oz of other liquid each day. Must be under 20 calories a serving. I am going online and ordering v8 diet in every flavor, I got a case of mixed berry Powerade zero and diet cranberry juice. Lots of variety.

5. If we are going bonkers...our surgeon said have low fat cottage cheese and grilled chicken ready.

She is the nicest and her staff are amazing. I learned so much in the 7 classes. The follow up program is amazing too.

Tweety40, I am allowed 1 cup of coffee a day. No more or it really irritates the pouch.

Best of me, I am on a try to keep super busy so I just keep moving forward phase. I am sure I am freaking out way down inside.I am having 2 to 4 food funerals a week and still trying to keep losing.....I lost 20 and gained some back and lost some and it repeats up and down....which shows me why I need this! 6 months to lose 20 lbs is sooooo slow!

Beck Gal is completely correct!!!

I do my pre-op on the 7th but only required to be on liquids the day before surgery. I think I will do liquids as close to a week as possible though. It will be right after the holidays and if I can lose even a pound then the liquids will be worth it.

I did a low carb/sugar diet that was mostly liquids. I did this for two weeks. Liquids all day until dinner when I had a salad with Protein in it or protein and maybe a cup of a steamed vegetable. My fluids were a mix of Water, crystal light, and Protein Shakes. Then I did a full clear liquid the last 23 hours. My doctor said my liver looked great and it was a clean easy surgery!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
