I'm hoping for November or December. I met with one doctor who was a jerk, so I am now scheduled elsewhere. To save time, I chose the 6 month phone calls with ActiveHealth (through insurance). I am scheduled for a visit with the surgeon for August 5. I'm hoping to accomplish all other requirements between then and the first of November when I finish the phone calls. Then I submit for approval and get a date. So, as long as the docs schedule works with me, I can do November/December.

@Mistie I think it's great that you can do your weight loss visits over the phone. That also saves you co-pays (if you have any). I wish Anthem BCBS offered this to me as a viable option. Good luck!

Where are you located . I'm always on YouTube and here trying to grab all the info I can . I went to the doctor and I was sooo shocked to see how much I weighed and realized that this has to happen immediately! I'm 282 , I wrote on the paper that I was 265 !

I'm right there with you, I had a visit with my PCP and weighed in at 282 as well, I couldn't believe my eyes. I too am now starting my journey, meeting with the surgeon for the first time Aug 15th. I didn't want to waste this month so I went to my PCP and had her put me on a supervised diet, so next month whn i meet with the surgeon, I would be on mth 2 of the diet with four more to go. If all goes well I can have a January date. I can't wait.

@@jss1988 - it's a great option! The other was the 3 months supervised, but since I wasn't with the surgeon yet, thought this was faster. Even more interesting, is since I just completed month 3, they are sending me a gift pack, has a pedometer, resistance bands for arm exercises, a cookbook, and a few other goodies. So glad BCBS finally approved wls!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
