My surgery is 9 days away. I am freaking out! I have so many anxieties and worries... Will I fail? Will I have complications? Will I be kidnapped in Mexico and sold as a sex slave? Jk... Kinda ????

I am a low BMI (just over 30)... I worry I won't lose the weight. I worry my reflux will be worse. I worry that I'm being selfish for spending so much money on an "elective" procedure. I really love food. I love trying new food when hubby & I travel... I love sweets... I mean duh. This is how I got here!

I just feel super girly emotional right now & wanna cry. My husband is being supportive but if I even mention not having the procedure to him he says he wouldn't. Of course he wouldnt, he doesn't struggle with his weight...

I dunno. Guess I needed to vent. I am just worried about EVERYTHING.

I should also add that he's going with me to Mexico, and I'm worried we may kill each other the first few days I'm without food, lol!!!

My surgery was in Mexico, and most of my friends thought I was nuts, but when you do self pay, they offered the best service for the best price. My facility was great and the care was wonderful.

I was scared to death as the date got closer, but so dang thankful when it was done. It is a process. There will be change. The sleeve is just a tool, not a magic wand. It is a new beginning and there is a great deal deal of discovery ahead, I was blown away at the many self discoveries I made about my relationship with food that I didn't know I had. Be open to the truth and doors will open. May sound kind of New Age, but this is a physical as well as mental and spiritual journey. Fear is just a signal that something new is about to happen.

Good luck and congratulations on having the courage to begin a new chapter in your life. You can archive the "fat years" soon.

I think you're fine on all accounts, except maybe the sex slave issue. ????

Until there is a shortage of BBW hookers, I don't think anyone should worry about the sex slave issue. I'd just concentrate on walking, eating slower and trying out Protein drinks. ;-)

That's exactly it! Fear of the unknown. I'm scared I will screw this up just like I have every diet I've ever been on.

I am glad that I am not the only one that has these feelings. I am in the last stages of approval from my insurance company and then will be able to schedule my sleeve surgery for the end of August or early September. I am scared that I will screw this up and end up right back where I am right now. So, thanks for sharing!

It doesn't seem so bad to be crazy as long as everyone else is crazy too, right? Hahahaaaa! ????

Nothing is ever guaranteed, but this a great tool, if you respect it. But I really hope your journey will be as pleasant as mine. You are doing something courageous for yourself and the others in your life. I was blessed when I ran across this option. I am doing great, but I am inspired by the people on this board like B-52 and others who are doing great and they are in it for the long haul. Look up:

RNsleever girl you sound like a a fighter so chill drink your shakes and relax. My biggest fear is sagging skin....lol..I have seen several people have R&Y and not exercise any and look like a worm with the sh$t slung out of them. I got my cardio glide set up I am ordering a small stepper to use while watching TV.

My husband is having surgery with me I am going first and he is having 2 weeks later or there about. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
