Not sure if my fill was too tight or I do not know what full is?

Recommended Posts

HI Folks,

I was banded March 20th, and did not get my first fill until June 4th. I was on the liquid, soft, then solid for 7 days after the fill. I lost about 6 pounds during the first 10 days after the fill. Putting my total weight loss at 34 pounds. However, I will PB nearly every day and it is not on any certain food. Yesterday, I had a light bulb moment, and I think I have been eating too much? At 52 you would think I would be a little smarter, wouldn't you? The problem is, my stoma may be full, but I am hungry.

I really do not want to get an unfill because I am self pay. Doctor charged 2000 and that include 4 visits. So, an unfill would be a visit.

And I know if I can loose another 10 pounds or so, the band will be looser.

Any suggestions?

Hmmmm.....unless your doctor is extremely aggressive with fills, it would be unusual to be too tight with a first fill. You're not trying to drink with your meals, are you....that will make food come back up if your pouch is full. Chewing good? Eating slowly?

You say you are still hungry....what are you eating/drinking? Are you eating your Protein first? Are you eliminating all white carbs? (those bad carbs just set you up for cravings). You know, it takes 20 minutes for the food messages to get to your brain (that's all people, not just wls people), so maybe you are expecting to be satisfied too soon.

Hope things get better soon.......

You may be right....there are times I drink some Fluid before the hour is up...I will watch that....today..so far...no pb'ing...but I stopped as I got that kinda full feeling....Tonight I was able to eat a roast beef and mashed potatoes small portion dinner and did not PB...but I am not drinking yet...

It is kinda funny...but I think my restriction is just now working or either I might be realizing it?? I just hope I have not done any damage to my band?

I can't help you with the fill - bing banded 7/19. But, my doctor wouldn't do my surgery unless I quit smoking so I quit, too. Gained about 10 lbs. this past month though. Not too happy about that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
