I'm 7 weeks out-This morning I made an egg bake- eggs, lactaid milk, diced mushrooms, diced onions, spices and some cooking spray for the baking dish. Shortly after I urgently had to go to the bathroom and felt like I was going to throw up. Luckily did not throw up, but right now I still feel very nauseous (2 1/2 hrs later). I have been eating all of these things for several weeks with the exception of the mushrooms. Could the mushrooms really cause this? I feel awful!

Yes, it is possible. Or you just ate a bit too much. You will find that your tolerance of things changes throughout the beginning and will eventually settle down.

Anything is possible. I know sometimes I tolerate eggs well and then other times I take a bite and I'm full. I have not tried mushrooms, I don't know how I'll react.

I've never had a problem with mushrooms (I'm also seven weeks out), but then, everyone's different. As someone else said, you may have just eaten too fast, but if that starts happening more and more, call your surgeon. I started having problems keeping things down during week five, and it turned out I had a stricture.

Hi,

eggs are a solid source of Protein, but were a little too rich for me in the beginning and cause nausea and dumping. Also, I had a lot of trouble with onions in the beginning - too acidic for me. I ate very mildly and dipped lightly for quite a while. If I even slightly over did the amount in my pouch it came flying back out one of two way! lol!

Hang in there and just go small and mild for a while :) You gonna do great!

Thank you all! I threw out the rest of the egg bake and have decided to steer clear of mushrooms for awhile! Not sure if that was it? I am also really watching myself to see if I am eating too fast.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
