Ashley1213 40 Posted July 18, 2015 I need someone out there to tell me I'll feel so much better in a couple of days. Btwn gas pain, incisional pain and nausea, I am hating myself for doing this. I loved Water pre-op and can barely sip it without becoming nauseated. The pain med I was sent home with is some God awful cherry flavor. Everything I can have right now makes me absolutely sick. It's going to get better, right??
AngelaWilliamsMD 290 Posted July 19, 2015 Yes. I know it's hard, but try to stay positive! You should notice a difference in the next two days or so.
SuperDave 1,115 Posted July 19, 2015 You WILL feel better in a couple of days. I felt the same 2 days out. I barely remember it all now, 8 months and 100 pounds later. Hang in there, you got this!

Ashley1213 40 Posted July 19, 2015 I absolutely underestimated this surgery. I've had other surgeries before and thought it would be similar. My son's 5th birthday is tomorrow and I feel like the worst mother ever. Thanks for the support guys. I wish I could just sleep through the first few rough days. sleevenv 483 Posted July 19, 2015 I felt like total crap the first 5 days. I just kept saying "this too will pas!" AND IT DID! I'm 17 days out and feeling great. Going out, socializing and doing everyday activities. I just don't revolve everything around food. I put Protein fruit punch in my purse and a bottle of Water. I have order Soup at restaurants and just sipped the broth. YOU CAN DO THIS!
Karen Crawford Wright 20 Posted July 19, 2015 I'm on day 5. It will get better each day. I felt horrible the 2nd and 3rd day, hang in there! I'm drinking my fluids easier and feeling much better.
Suzyjoy61 12 Posted July 19, 2015 Please hang in, it does get better. The first week was so hard I lived on zofran for nausea and pain meds. Everyone is different my Doctor explained to me the fundus upper part of stomach that is removed secreats a hormone that tells you you're Hungry. With this portion gone now you don't really feel hungry . Try to walk to move the gas and sips of sugar free drink . I hated the Vitamin Water they gave me in the hospital, but I still live on Sobie Apple pear vitamin water. Good Luck .I am 8 months out and lost over 120 lbs. Mandyctr 75 Posted July 19, 2015 I HATED TNE FIRST TWO WEEKS!!! I sincerely wondered if I'd made a huge mistake. It gets sooo much better and easier. You'll even look back at this and think 'oh, it wasn't so bad, I'd do it again'. I'm only three months post op and 50 lbs lighter and already so glad and practically living a new life. It's okay that you hate this, but it gets better. Oh, btw, I still miss chugging Water, I love it too and miss it. But can drink more every day.
ejones8979 9 Posted July 19, 2015 Is it true u can never drink soda again some people I asked said they do and it doesn't bother them, I don't drink it but I was just asking cause someone in my weight group said its a myth
KSTUZ 438 Posted July 19, 2015 All I could get down was crystal light iced tea and I couldn't drink it cold, not for the first week or two. Walk and try different types of liquid at different temps, sometimes that could do it! The gas pains in my shoulders and neck were so bad the first week.. WALK as much as u can! Down 106 in a lil over 6 months (including my one week pre op diet) You can get thru this!! ????????????????
MrsDixon 40 Posted July 19, 2015 Is it true u can never drink soda again some people I asked said they do and it doesn't bother them, I don't drink it but I was just asking cause someone in my weight group said its a myth You're not supposed to but ur also not supposed to drink caffeine, eat Pasta, rice or bread or stuff with sugar along with a bunch of other things many people try it to see if they can handle it and if they can they do. Not recommended tho.
