Post-op day 2 and regretting

Recommended Posts

I need someone out there to tell me I'll feel so much better in a couple of days.

Btwn gas pain, incisional pain and nausea, I am hating myself for doing this.

I loved Water pre-op and can barely sip it without becoming nauseated. The pain med I was sent home with is some God awful cherry flavor.

Everything I can have right now makes me absolutely sick.

It's going to get better, right??

Yes. I know it's hard, but try to stay positive! You should notice a difference in the next two days or so.

You WILL feel better in a couple of days. I felt the same 2 days out. I barely remember it all now, 8 months and 100 pounds later. Hang in there, you got this!

I absolutely underestimated this surgery. I've had other surgeries before and thought it would be similar.

My son's 5th birthday is tomorrow and I feel like the worst mother ever.

Thanks for the support guys. I wish I could just sleep through the first few rough days.

I felt like total crap the first 5 days. I just kept saying "this too will pas!" AND IT DID! I'm 17 days out and feeling great. Going out, socializing and doing everyday activities. I just don't revolve everything around food. I put Protein fruit punch in my purse and a bottle of Water. I have order Soup at restaurants and just sipped the broth. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Please hang in, it does get better. The first week was so hard I lived on zofran for nausea and pain meds. Everyone is different my Doctor explained to me the fundus upper part of stomach that is removed secreats a hormone that tells you you're Hungry. With this portion gone now you don't really feel hungry . Try to walk to move the gas and sips of sugar free drink . I hated the Vitamin Water they gave me in the hospital, but I still live on Sobie Apple pear vitamin water. Good Luck .I am 8 months out and lost over 120 lbs.

I HATED TNE FIRST TWO WEEKS!!! I sincerely wondered if I'd made a huge mistake. It gets sooo much better and easier. You'll even look back at this and think 'oh, it wasn't so bad, I'd do it again'. I'm only three months post op and 50 lbs lighter and already so glad and practically living a new life. It's okay that you hate this, but it gets better. Oh, btw, I still miss chugging Water, I love it too and miss it. But can drink more every day.

All I could get down was crystal light iced tea and I couldn't drink it cold, not for the first week or two.

Walk and try different types of liquid at different temps, sometimes that could do it!

The gas pains in my shoulders and neck were so bad the first week..

WALK as much as u can! :)

Down 106 in a lil over 6 months (including my one week pre op diet)

You can get thru this!! ????????????????

You're not supposed to but ur also not supposed to drink caffeine, eat Pasta, rice or bread or stuff with sugar along with a bunch of other things many people try it to see if they can handle it and if they can they do. Not recommended tho.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
