I've found this amazing cookbook called recipes for Life After Weight Loss Surgery and have made several of the recipes with great success. However in the "Lunch" section it keeps mentioning "diet whole wheat bread" but isn't any more specific than that. It must be low carb bread, too, because for the whole recipe (including 2 slices of bread) it's only 27 total carbs. I googled "diet whole wheat bread" but came up empty. Any suggestions about low carb whole wheat?

Let me edit that to say whole GRAIN bread, not whole wheat.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard pretty good things about Julian Bakery, they have a lot of low carb items for sale, wraps, Protein bars. A lot of things made specifically for the Paleo diet, on their website, Including no carb, and low carb breads.

If I can tolerate bread, which I haven't tried since surgery, I will order a few loaves from Julian Bakery, and freeze. I want to avoid adding more carbs. And I'd like to have a tiny sandwich, I bet I could maybe eat 1/4th of a whole sandwich. lol This seems a good solution for that.

I don't eat bread at all, but I do buy Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat for my family. One slice is 60 cal, 11g carbs (2 Fiber less than 1 sugar) and 4g Protein. Pretty good stats for bread!

I keep seeing ads for the Julian Protein bars--they look really good but are pricey! If anyone tries them I would love to hear how they are!

I will occasionally use this flat out bread that has flax seed in it. I get mine at ALDI. I only eat half of one though at a time and usually only one a day.

Bread I have now is healthy life soft style 100% whole grain. 1 slice has 1fat, 12.5 carb, 1.5 dietary fiber and 3 Protein. But again 1 slice, once a day. Not every day. I deduct dietary fiber from carbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
