I am 2 days post-op. I have a lot of energy, very little pain, just taking tylenol. I got bored this afternoon, went to get a pedicure (I stubbed my toes on the IV stand when I was walking multiple times), and went to Walmart to grab a couple things. I feel basically normal except my abdomen feels like I did 1000 crunches. My throat was still pretty sore last night but that is easing up.

When I sit around I notice I get stiff, but if I keep moving I stay limber. Am I over doing it? Should I chill out and relax more? I also have no issues with bending over, no pain really.

I'm starting to think I am going to over do it and pay for it later, but I have all this energy, seems a shame to waste it.

Have you had surgery before?

It is my experience with the multiple surgeries I've had, including this one, that days 3 and 4 are the worst. So yes, if you don't try to take it a little easier, you are going to crash pretty hard. You just had major surgery. It's okay to take it a little easy!

No I have never had any kind of surgery. I do have a high tolerance for pain.

My surgery was on a Tuesday, Thursday I was at the mall, Saturday I went to an OU football game. (my results don't mean this will happen to you). Do what you can do, don't lift anything heavy and get used to your new sleeve. Oh and do dream and visualize what you are going to look like and do when you get closer to your goal. And don't forget, they pumped you full of IV fluids, so you are probably going to gain weight...this too shall, eh, pass.

Take it as a blessing! I was the same post-op. No pain, no nausea, very little gas. I came home full of energy too and was actually back in the gym on the treadmill 6 days later. I read a lot of posts that had just the complete opposite experience. Be happy you feel so great, but be careful not to overdo it. It's easy to do too much when you feel good. ????

Moving is good but don't overdo it. Your body repairs itself as you rest so give it at least sometime to rest. As my mom said "you don't have to close your eyes but you have to lay down and rest for a little while and have some quiet time" ????. For what it's worth, I felt pretty good in the first week or so (despite passing 4 kidney stones) but weeks 3 and 4 hit me hard. I went back to work a little too early I think.

Well I probably should have chilled out. I got really sleepy on the way home. I wasn't thinking about it being the heat of the day and this 90 degree St Louis heat zapped all my energy. I am home now and feel much better.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
