I started a SECRET Facebook Group (closed, nobody can see you are there) For July 2015 people only. I hope this can expand as a individualized community so we can help each other out through the same stages of this journey. I hope you can join. (1) The only way to join is to send email invites, not a link. You will need to private-message me your email address, the one linked to your FaceBook profile. An email invitation for the FaceBook group will be sent to you.

I hope you are doing well, and hope to see you soon!

I too am more worried about giving up food more than I am worried about the surgery!! I'm terrified to give up my best friend food! : (

quote name="TXTinana" post="3890542" timestamp="1437164565"]Honestly this is the part I am dreading the most. I start my liquid diet in 10 days. To me that's scarier than the surgery itself (how sad is that?)

Keep updating on how it goes. Someone told me after the first week it gets easier, but I am just worried that it won't.

I have not done it yet. I am still in the planning phase. I felt that with such limited options of liquid, it'd be difficult. I have the same list and a few others in the book I have. But I did go to GNC and find the Apple Melon Isopure. It tastes like Apple Jolly Ranchers. Are you allowed to have these too? There are a few other flavors. This one was just what I found online and sought it out. Best of luck on your journey ahead!

I am on day 5 of my two week pre op liquid diet! This has got to be the hardest thing I've ever done in my entire life! Seriously! I am required to have 7 HMR (lactose free) Meal Replacement shakes per day. They can be mixed with Water only! I am also allowed to have broth, Crystal Light, coffee, tea, water or diluted fruit juices and sugar free popsicles. The shake flavors come in chocolate or vanilla only. They are getting really hard to get down! Most days, I'm only able to get 6 of them in. I have 9 days to go and....honestly....I'm hoping I make it! Today, I put 1 tablespoon of PB2 in my vanilla shake. It made it taste soooo much better! I am drinking over 64 oz of water per day. I've already lost 8lbs...but this is pure torture, especially when you still have to cook for 3 kids and a husband. I want to eat real food so badly!

I'd appreciate some words of advice! How have others handled this?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
